Job Title: Category Manager - Indirect Material
Superior Position: Manager Indirect – Sandvik Greater China
Work Location: Shanghai/ Beijing/ Langfang/ Zhenjiang
Job Responsibilities:
1. In conjunction with the key client (i.e. Business Area manager, PU-Managers and other stakeholders), provide high level expertise for a significant number of high risk, high value (“Strategic Critical”) sourcing activities.
2. Lead and support peers, providing guidance on all matters within the responsible category. Act as process leader for continued sourcing process improvement.
3. Develop procurement-specific sourcing strategies, processes and analysis techniques. Sourcing activities include:
- Rigorous internal and supply market analysis
- Development of expressions of interest and requests for information proposals, tenders and bid lists
- Analysis of vendor responses
- Execute highly objective supplier selection and negotiation processes ensuring that all key stakeholders are involved in: the determination of requirements, specifications, selection criteria, review of proposals, negotiations, final recommendations.
- Ensure procurement decisions support needs of key users and stakeholders
- Develop terms for supply contracts.
- Driving suppliers for continuous improvement including quality issues
4. Manage the effective delivery of projects by determining project timelines, objectives and directing activities of project teams, keeping all members and stakeholders informed of progress.
5. Ensure the successful delivery of sourcing project outcomes through use of rigorous and systematic processes and timely project completion.
6. Lead the development and on-going management of multiple and simultaneous supplier selection and negotiation processes ensuring key stakeholder involvement in the determination of requirements, specifications, selection criteria; review of proposals; negotiations;
7. Conduct and implement contract management for assigned contracts;
8. Complete discrete projects as required;
9. Ensure new or changed supply arrangements are effectively communicated to all stakeholders affected by the changes.
10. Effectively manage stakeholders and build strong team relationships and trust with customers
11. Performance manage supplier agreements to ensure adherence to terms and added value
12. Set up responsible category KPIs/annual business plan and implement accordingly
13. Documents management such as visit reports, records and files are kept in a good order
14. Support global projects from category management if needed
15. Secure suppliers fulfillment of Sandvik Code of Conduct
16. Other duties/activities assigned by Purchasing Manager Indirect
Job Requirements:
1. Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing of goods and services
2. An university degree qualified or progressing towards qualification in a related field (supply chain, finance, management, etc.) or demonstrated strategic sourcing experience
3. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
4. Proficient in written and spoken English
5. Be able to communicate effectively with management and staff at all levels
6. Basic knowledge of contracts and contract law
7. Travel will be required as this is a newly created position offering an opportunity to be part of Sandvik’s strategic focus on purchasing across all business units nationally.
