Key tasks:
1. Responsible for marketing of all NPG and Palgrave journals, Palgrave Connect to institutions in the Greater China region.
? Understand the needs of the market and develop and execute a marketing plan to maximize sales of NPG, Palgrave journals and Palgrave Connect throughout the Greater China region, including mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.
? Develop and implement marketing strategies and tools to be used to maximize sales by the SLBU in the region.
? Work with the Institutional Sales Director to develop a conference program that accommodates the needs of the Sales Managers in the Great China SLBU/Palgrave to reach the library community.
? Manage an institutional marketing budget to be sourced from the UK institutional marketing budget, and determined by the Head of Institutional Marketing, UK and the Intuitional Sales Director. Use of this budget will primarily be to support the sales activities of the Sales Managers in the Great China SLBU/Palgrave.
? Work closely with Institutional Sales Director and each of the Sales Managers in the Greater China region to determine their needs, and then prioritize and manage the use of the institutional marketing budget.
? Work with the Head of Institutional Marketing, UK, to ensure that all branding used in marketing materials by the Greater China SLBU/Palgrave is consistent with NPG’s global branding rules. Work with the Institutional Marketing Manager, APAC to be well informed of any new marketing practice across APAC area.
? Under the direction of the Institutional Sales Director and Marketing Manager, NPG Greater China, assist marketing colleagues in the US and UK offices to carry out marketing activities in the Greater China region. It is understood that this will mainly consist of assisting at conferences in the region.
? Work closely with Asia Sales Analysis & Intelligence Manager based in Tokyo, identify marketing areas that a strategic marketing activity is required to maximize the sales, make a plan for the activity and carry it out in cooperation with Sales Director and Sales Managers in the Greater China region.
? Under the direction of the Institutional Sales Director and with the support from Sales Managers, potentially establish a library committee of China librarians and manage the goals of this meeting.
2. Work with staff in other departments of the SLBU to maximise sales in the region.
? Work closely with Greater China Online Sales Support and Operation team, to ensure that customer service of the highest quality is provided to customers in the region.
? Work closely with Asia Sales Analysis & Intelligence Manager to ensure that sufficient market research is carried out to locate potential customers in the region for NPG and Palgrave titles.
3. Contribute to the management team of the NPG SLBU/Palgrave, Greater China
? Participate in the Greater China Managers quarterly meetings and contribute to the setting of policy and overall goals of the SLBU in Greater China.
? Hold regular meetings among all SLBU, Great China staff, as required, to ensure the smooth operation of the division in the region.
