Job Summary:

JBoss Data Virtualization is an open source middleware platform for consuming, integrating, and transforming data from disparate data sources. JDV allows application developers to access and query multiple data sources, both structured and unstructured data, as easily as executing a JDBC statement.

As a Sustaining Engineer and member of the Data Virtualization development and productization team, you will work with the award-winning Red Hat global support team and be responsible for maintaining and supporting the code base, debugging and fixing customer issues, building patches, and coordinating with the core development team. You will also gain experience in open source software development, playing an important role in the community, and collaborate with the developers of other Red Hat JBoss products and open source communities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Debug Java code to diagnose, fix, and patch customer issues.

Develop translators and adapters to new data sources accessed by JBoss Data Virtualization.
*
Assist in developing and maintaining tests for certifying supported versions of data sources accessed by JBoss Data Virtualization.
*
Execute performance tests, profiling and tuning the product on different operating systems.
*
Write and maintain unit and integration tests.
*
Participate on project forums, community IRC and JIRA/Bugzilla bug tracking and tasking systems to interact with user and developer communities.
Requirements:
*
5+ years related development experience in Java. Proficiency is required.
*
3+ years experience with database management systems is required.
*
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline is strongly preferred.
*
Experience with Open Source software development is an advantage.
*
Exposure to working with a distributed development team is strongly preferred.
*
Self-motivated and able to work in an independent and autonomous fashion.
