Job Description and Responsibilities of Mechanical Design Engineer

Reports to: Mechanical Design Engineering Manager

Job Summary:
Performs engineering design, development of new consumer electronic products. Applies advanced design technologies and tools. Implements new industrial designs to work with engineering mechanisms. Takes projects from concept to production. Develops prototype and test requirements, Develops specifications.


Main Responsibilities:
1.Executes engineering activities for multiple projects and priorities work to align with business and department goals.
2. Designs components, sub-assemblies / overall assembly using Pro-Engineer 3D model.
3. Uses analytic software and/or prototyping to demonstrate product feasibility.
4. Good knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerances). knows how to set design datum and component datum in 2d drawings. conducts tolerance analysis of multi-part assemblies.
5. Create cost estimates for new and existing components and sub-assemblies. review supplier's DFM with team and optimize the design to simplify the manufacturing process, so to lower the component design cost.
6. As a team member, works with suppliers / manufacturing to develop new or enhance existing components and assemblies.
7. Writes requirements and works with reliability test team to complete required reliability testing plans.
8. Work with SQE team to qualify tooling and components for production approval.
9. Develops and maintains accurate and complete engineering documentations, i.e. design layouts, bill of material (BOM), detail and assembly drawings, work with US DOC team to release the controlled drawings or engineering documents via Arena.
10. Executes engineering change documents as required and work with US DOC team to release the ECN via Arena.
11. Provides designs that incorporate a basic knowledge of customer service requirements, end user needs and manufacturing requirements.
12.Other duties as required by supervisor.


Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor degree or above in mechanical engineering (or equivalent experience)
2. Five years ( or above) experience working in an engineering (or R&D) department involved in new product development.
3. Familiars with design engineering theory and how to apply technologies appropriate to functions and industrial design cosmetics requirements.
4. Uses best product development processes, practices, and standards.
5. Familiars with designing different kinds of parts, such as: Machined parts, die cast parts, injection molded and plastic parts, sheet metal parts. Familiars with design to cost principles and GD&T and manufacturing processes.
6. Working knowledge of high volume production processes, materials, tooling and equipment
7.Good 3D design experience in Pro-E, knows Arena system and relative software.
8. Is comfortable working within team environment. Consistently makes contributions to help the team reach their objectives.
9. Can move others, particular at the same level, to commit to a course of action and influence them to accomplish tasks or reach objectives. Begins to take responsibility for design integrity and engineering support on all assigned products.
10. Has effective written and verbal communication skills. Listens to others' opinions by demonstrating attention and conveying understanding. Proactively gathers information to help understand internal and


external customer requirements and is able to convey that information to others.
11. Knowledge in speaker and Blue teeth / Head set product design is preferable.
12. Familiar with MS Office programs.
13. Good at English Reading and Writing and Working knowledge of Technical English, can work effectively with US engineering team directly.
14. Fluent Spoken English preferred.
