Job description
Key Responsibilities:
The General Manager (Shenyang Chapter) will be responsible to the Secretary General in respect of specific Shenyang Chapter issues and European Chamber matters generally as specified below.
General Management
Manage daily operations of the Shenyang Chapter to meet the agreed targets of the Chapter.
· Assist to develop and implement the Chamber Strategy for the Shenyang Chapter in coordination with the Secretary General (SG).
Ensure management of all financial aspects within the Shenyang Chapter to meet internal and external audit requirements.
Contribute to the development of the Chamber through participation in operational meetings, monthly reporting and management of specific projects as required by the SG.
Ensure the Shenyang Chapter complies with all relevant Chinese legislation.
Provide support and guidance to Shenyang board as required by the Executive Committee (ExCo) and SG, schedule regular board meetings and identify suitable future candidates in accordance with the SG.
Government Affairs and Working Groups
· Maintain working knowledge of key business and regulatory issues in China.
· Develop and maintain close relations with and understanding of the Chinese Government on city and provincial level.
Identify and assess the scope of Chamber Working Groups in Shenyang
Membership and other income
Responsible for developing membership in Shenyang and surrounding cities and for identifying and developing new target markets.
· Examination of and ruling on membership applications in Shenyang.
· Supervise issuance of contracts and collection of subscription fees and other income of the Shenyang Chapter.
Marketing and Communication
· Plan and organise special events and trade fairs.
Prepare text in English for the EUCCC website and newsletter, informing of activities, events, local news etc.
Develop excellent relations on behalf of the Chamber with local media organisations in Shenyang
Promote the Voice of European Business in the local area.
Qualifications
- 3 years minimum of related government, business, or organizational experience
- 3 years minimum of related China experience
- 3 years minimum of management experience
- Understanding of China’s business and regulatory environment
- Outstanding interpersonal and organization skills
- Excellent writing and presentational skills
- Experience in working with the Chinese Government
- Good understanding of Chinese and European institutions
- Good understanding and appreciation of the nature of non-profit, membership based organizations
- University degree in economics, law, business, or politics or related work experience (Masters Degree Preferred)
- Energetic, proactive, and team player attitude
- Flexible working hours
- Near native fluency in English
- Chinese Language abilities highly desirable
- Knowledge of other European Languages is an asset
- Computer literacy (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet Explorer)
