Purpose of the Job

R&D Manager is responsible for program management and delivery of e-solutions for Datong Shanghai:
R&D Manager is responsible for all the products development within the company, run internal development project(s) as program/project manager. Apart from development, R&D Manager also contributes to product strategy development with alignment of market trends/need. In additional, he/she also responsible for working closely with Datong business units (Implementation/QC, Sales, Editorial).

R&D Manager also act as technology consultant in making decision and direction for product development and suggest the appropriate solution. Provide status report in a regular basis, take care of risk analysis, profit & lost analysis, resource management and take care of stakeholder interest.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

E-Solutions Development Strategy
1. Work with the Datong Business Units to define, plan and execute the e-solutions development delivery within budget, timeline and requirement
2. Develop clear plans for roll-out of products accordingly to the requirement
3. Ensure that Datong e-solutions technology is aligned with the IT Healthcare trends
4. Ensure e-solutions technology is effectively communicated within the Elsevier China organization and aligned to Health Sciences APAC technology
5. Support business teams throughout the business case development process

Technology and Platform Strategy
1. Act as key technical advisor and contact to Datong e-business/e-development team
2. Leverage global platforms where feasible, and local platforms where appropriate
3. Ensure that Project Management methodologies are defined and deployed
4. Establish framework and tools to govern and ensure business sustainability

Project Delivery
1. Ensure on-time/budget/schedule of e-solutions to market, whether working with global technology teams or using local vendors
2. Manage the project management and business analysis to ensure successful delivery
3. Plan effective roll-out of new products, coordinated with content, sales, operations and implementation/QC teams
4. Ensure clear financial, usage and customer satisfaction metrics in place for all products, and clear goals and action plans
5. Provide clear reporting of project progress, results and issues to the Datong management team and HS APAC teams

E-business Enablement
1. Identify and support the organizational change required to ensure Datong will be able to successfully deliver its planned level of e-solutions growth
2. Ensure that product management is developed as a discipline within Datong organization, through recruitment, training and development of key staff
3. People management and performance management, to define KPIs to team members, and conduct regular performance appraisal

Functional and Technical Competencies

? Fluent English and Chinese
? Strong strategy and business planning capabilities
? Leadership skills, and ability to influence key decision makers across the organization
? Financial and business analysis skills
? Proven software development delivery capabilities
? Strong presentation and negotiation skills
? Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate with both business and technical staff
? Analytical abilities

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experiences (and any other requirements)

? Master degree required, Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent
? 12+ working experience with 8+ years of product/program management experience with software products
? Strong experience of go-to-market for e-solutions
? Proven product and program management experience
? Profit & Lost management experience
? Healthcare (HIS/EMR/EHR) IT experience is helpful
? Specific industry knowledge (healthcare and/or biomedical sciences) desired
