Summary
The role of the Functional Lead is to represent the business area for which work is being performed to execute and fulfill the operational vision. The key requirement of this role is determining and defining business needs and delivering to customer specifications.

The Functional Lead is also responsible for supporting the Project Manager in terms of managing the life cycle of the program including: conforming with existing program governance processes, procedures and artifacts; managing project scope and approach, deliverable assurance, project budget and financials; internal and external project resources; and internal and external communications.


Roles and Responsibilities
？ Provides expertise on the overall business processes around which the project is focused and provide needed business expertise in those areas
？ Provides direction to the functional resources on managing day-to-day activities and adhering to project deliverable due dates
？ Participates actively in the development of the functional team task lists (in conjunction with the Project Manager) within project scope schedule and cost
？ Consults and mentors business resources concerning methods, procedures, and standards to be used during requirements definition, design, development, and testing phases of the project
？ Participates actively in all phases of the project including planning and analysis, design, development, testing and implementation.
？ Helps identify change barriers within the business areas
？ Provides two way communication between the affected business area and the Project Team
？ Communicates issues and status information to the Project Manager and Sponsor concerning business activities
？ Identifies opportunities for reuse and process improvement

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Experience
？ Significant experience in a line role for a finance function in the financial services industry (Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance).
？ Significant experience as a project leader / manager, with progressive roles and experience leading finance transformation projects in the financial services industry (Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance).
？ Demonstrated success managing the complete life cycle of projects, implementing cost effective, customer driven solutions supporting various areas within finance and accounting.
？ Considerable knowledge and experience with project management methodologies and solutions
？ Strong written communication and presentation skills, including the ability to liaise with and influence senior stakeholders.
？ Strong leadership abilities and experience managing a team
？ Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and manage key stakeholder interests while managing conflicting priorities and business interests.
