Duties

1. Sampling

Own the sampling process up until an order is placed. This includes counter/proto, presentation and/or sales samples supporting the aesthetics of the New York design team , travel is required to China Sample Rooms and local fabric and trim market.


Common activities include:

· Working with outside sample room

· Working with the production vendor/factory

· Organize sampling with speed and effectiveness

· Wash standards and finishing as requested by New York

· Organize sample yardage and trim where necessary

· Ensure the aesthetic of the brand is accurate, have the same ‘eye’

· Review samples when received from the sample room before submitting to NY, make corrections…do not send to NY if not meeting expectations

· Delivery to/from sample rooms, then consolidation to NY

· Review tech packages with technical design upon receipt

· Work with technical design to ensure proper measurements

· Coordinate trips to sample room with technical design when necessary

· Check handlooms/strike-offs/lab dips to ensure accuracy

2. Vendor Relationships and NY Design Team

Daily communication with New York designers, sample rooms, suppliers for sample development.


Requirement

1.AS or BA degree from -an Art and Design College
2.Fashion design major
3.Qualifications
? U.S. brand experience preferred
? Ability to travel as needed to China sample rooms
? Proficient in the following software: Photoshop, Illustrator (Mac/PC), Excel, Word Outlook, Web PDM and stays up to date on all new technologies
? Ability to create sketches both by hand as well as with computer
? Proficiency in English is required both written and verbal
4. 3-5yeas of experiences

Other Qualification
Proficiency in:
§ Microsoft Office software
§ Photoshop
§ Illustrator
§ Web PDM
§ PLM (a plus)
Other Experience
? Knowledgeable about the various color services
? Create color cards both hard copy and electronically
? Able to approve lab dips
? Certified by the retailer, if applicable
? Knowledgeable of garment construction
? Correct samples for the desire aesthetic
? Identify local market trends and design patterns.
? Shop local markets for fabric for samples and development.
? Ability to understand the aesthetic requirements of the label/brand.
? Conduct the handoff meetings when an order is placed.
? Work with merchandisers to ensure correct designs are executed in production.
