Job description
The Software Developer provides technical direction in the development of applications based on JAVA and/or Cognos;
Communicate with world wide users helping them to solve analytics problems, effectively communicating results and methodologies;
Decisions affect the overall success of the project and directly impact application performance, image, schedules;
In this role, team members ensure that the implement components are unit tested and ready to be promoted to production;
They also need to develop design documentation during their development work and also provide fixes to defects;
Application developers in this role have robust hands-on experience with planning, developing, supporting, maintaining, and implementing applications on J2EE, IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM Rational tooling, DB2/SQL database;
Experience with Service and Support, IBM Connections, Social Collaboration solutions, and web security protocols. Requirement:
Analyze requirements for new or modified applications;
Consult with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives;
Formulate plans outlining steps required to develop program using structured analysis and design;
Develop, test and run programs;
Analyze, review and alter programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements;
Strong ability of using EXCEL. Extensive experience in most of the following skills and attributes are required/preferred:
Strong Java development skill is required;
Strong DB2, SQL is required;
JavaScript development is required;
WAS, Rational IDE, DB2 9.x preferred;
XML, AJAX, web technologies preferred;
Testing tools preferred;
VBA development skill preferred. Team Specifics:
Primary applications are J2EE based applications built on WebSphere;
Primary development languages are Java, JavaScript;
Scope of work encompasses multiple components, or a complex component, of a software product or solution;
Understands service process and how the tools are used to resolve field reported problems. Use continuous improvement.
