MS China will increase the number of R&D by around 10% to boost its presence in the country's fast-growing smartphone market and strengthen its capabilities in areas such as Internet search and cloud computing.
STCA was founded in year 2005 as an incubation from Microsoft Research Asia and is now starting the second “Five-Year Plan” after the merge with the Ads Platform Center in 2011, expanding very fast into new global development efforts in Social Computing, Speech, etc. The new team has not only built up its strengths and expanded its scope, but also set a shared goal, broadened its vision, and equipped with richer resources that gives the team the confidence to scale new heights.
STCA is now focusing on the following areas: the continuous exploration of Bing search technology; the technical innovation of online advertisement services; the development of the social computing platform for OSD & Bing, as well as the development of mobile applications. Today, STCA has hundreds of excellent employees and is the largest R&D team of the Microsoft Online Service Division outside the United States.
As part of Social Platform team for OSD & Bing, we are looking for high caliber engineers/leads and/or applied research engineers, who are interested in building next gen e2e Social Computing Infrastructure, tools, platform, data, analytics, and applications (for PC / Mobile) many other upcoming innovations, in Social Computing space for both Social Media and Social Search (Bing), for either Global or China market, etc.
Social Platform team is building the leading edge of e2e services and application for Global and China market, we are looking for different types of engineers:
As a Software Development Lead, you will lead your team to work with PM and Test teams to design, develop, and deliver quality social features for OSD & Bing Search services. You must feel comfortable operating within a fast moving research and development team. You should have great core development skills: strong passion for delivering quality products, proven track record of working with PM/Test/Research in a product group, great design, coding, and debugging skills, and excellent written and oral communication, as well as demonstrate strong leadership within the team. The ability to handle multiple concurrent releases and demonstrated experience driving for results in a cross-group/ team project is a must.

Required Qualifications:
- You should possess a strong technical background and a good grasp of software engineering principles, exceptional problem solving, design, and programming skills, and a minimum of 3 years experience in delivering software solutions, prefer in the online space.
- Mac, Linux/Unix, iOS/ Android app development experience is a bonus
- You should be self-motivated and self-directed and able to mentor team members. A demonstrated ability to come up-to-speed quickly on a new technical domain is presumed. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are very important. And demonstrated management skills and the better the ability to build up a fast growing developer team are required.
Knowledge and experience in any of the following areas is preferred: - HTML5/JAVASCRIPT, ASP.NET, C# and .NET platform coding (or equivalent technologies), distributed content caching and storage systems, SQL Server database design (or equivalent NOSQL:/ SQL storage)
- Internet Search, Information Retrieval, Data Mining and Analytics, Machine learning, Natural Language Processing, large scale distributed systems, High Performance Computing, Cloud computing, etc.
- Knowledge and experiences in smart mobile app development and social network & application development is a plus.
