This position reports to the Software Engineering organization, responsible for Synopsys software development environment, processes, and release management. Software Engineering Organization serves a global software development community of around 2000 engineers.

The Software Engineer is expected to develop and support global software development tools and environment.
Duties include writing specifications, implementing, testing, and supporting development tools needed to deliver high quality software to our customers.

Skills

Candidate must have a strong background and proven track record in software development. Having a strong background in data structures and algorithms and expertise in C/C++ coding are required. Having experience in dealing and communicating at different levels of the organization is also key to this position. Ability to work independently and exceptional verbal/written communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are a must.

BS in EE or CS with 3+ years of relevant experience in software development.
Experienced in UNIX/Linux environment, perl/python programming, shell script programming, and C/C++ programming.
Experience with Java programming is a plus.
Experience with Web development is a plus.
Experienced with development tools under UNIX, e.g., editor, compiler, make, debugger, version control system (Git, SVN, ClearCase, Perforce or other).
Familiarity with software engineering principles, formal development processes, and client server computing.
It is essential that the individual has a strong desire to learn and explore new technologies and is able to demonstrate good analytic and problem solving skills.
