Responsibilities:

This role is a junior/intermediate technical data management role located in the corporate subsurface data management team. The role is accountable for the management of technical data through the exploration and production lifecycle, in the following subsurface specialty areas: Geology, Gepphysics, and Petroleum Engineering, with specific accountability for the well and petroleum engineering data types.

Responsibilities also include:
Accountable for delivery of technical data management services for subsurface data and metadata in an exploration and production asset environment.
Apply specialist DM tools to move data between applications and databases, such as CDS, OpenWorks and Recall, employ specialist tools to analyze data, such as ARCGIS, and data-type specific tools.
Support an integrated information management plan for all data in the business project, in cooperation with the project data management specialists.
Responsible, where delegated, to certify data security, entitlements, and confidentiality, and ensure access according to control definitions.
Duty to inform the business team on all technical DM matters, on-board new staff and support them on current operational DM procedures.
Provide assistance with workflow support with an emphasis on issues related to data quality and data flow.
Deliver data management support to the loading, transfer, publication, and quality control of the technical subsurface data types supporting this environment.
Deliver the integration of these data types into data flows which support the standard geoscience interpretation workflows.
Provide support to the E&P community in the practice of sub-surface geoscience data management, and associated tools and workflows.
Work with senior members of the DM team to provide agreed turn-around service levels, as delegated.
Participate in workflow improvements for specialist areas.
There is no budgetary responsibility or direct reports associated with this position.

Requirements:

Must have legal requirement to work in Canada on a full time basis for anyone other than their current employer.
Has a degree or diploma or equivalent experience in a relevant EP technical discipline, e.g. Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engineering, or other qualifications combined with appropriate experience in a related business domain.
2-5 years experience as a data manager and/or geoscientist/technologist with particular exposure to technical data.
Awareness of E&P technical data types and work practices gained through education or working in the subsurface, well engineering or production domain.
Has exposure to multiple subsurface datatypes. (e.g. Well, Petrophysics, Seismic, Production, Reservoir)
Familiar with using technical tools to transfer and manage data.
An understanding of the principles and practices involved in the development and maintenance of Data Management solutions is desirable.
Skills required:
Demonstrated ability to research and resolve data integrity problems.
Knowledge of Linux OS, and PC applications including Excel, is desirable.
Strong IT skills, would be a definite asset.
Knowledge of industry technical data management tools and practices commensurate with experience necessary.
Technical data management experience in the corporate or project DM space is a definte asset.
Strong customer focus with well developed communication skills.
Desire to learn required technical skills and ability to learn quickly are necessary in this role.
