Responsibilities:
The Hydrcarbon Allocation (HCA Analyst) SME(Subject Matter Expert)/Team Lead role is for overseeing the management, analysis, and reporting of hydrocarbon production information for Shell assets containing multiple of interest and/or royalty interest in wells, sales points, and complex allocation networks from the posit of field data capture through the execution of the daily & monthly HCA (Hydrocarbon Allocation) process.
The HCA Team lead/SME also ensures SOX and other key business controls are followed and auditable along with compliance with government regulations as well as contractual obligations for internal and external stakeholders in the operation of wells, fields and gas plants. Address and mitigate issues associated with data quality on the input and output of the HCA processes through focused analysis/surveillance of the data and results. To provide support and guidance to staff to address and mitigate issues associated with data quality on the input and output of the HCA processes through focused analysis/surveillance of the data and results.
The HCA Analyst SME/Team Lead is primarily accountable for the technical support of the HCA Analysts and act as a backfill for HCA Analysts at various assets.
The HCA Analyst SME/Team Lead must maintain skill level competencies in the following areas:
Daily and monthly transactional support of the HCA process as well as providing business analyst support to ensure the accurate and complete data capture and store within the HCA process for allocation algorithms.
Key responsibilities include:
The validation of the data, reconciliation of data quality and integrity issues.
Responsibility to meet Sox requirements and the reporting of key process outputs and measures per Shell and regulatory requirements.
End to end business processes with ongoing input on process improvements and efficiencies.
To provide support, training, mentorship to aid in the further development of team members within the HCS organization.
Independently interpret and apply the government regulatory and contractual reporting requirements into daily and monthly allocation as well as reporting comprehensive analysis to internal and external stakeholders.
Implementation of acquisitions, divestments and new exploration into business processes and systems.
Trouble shooting and rectify incomplete production data requiring analytical, interpretative, evaluative, and/or constructive thinking to meet multiple reporting deadlines monthly for a growing asset(s) with complex allocations.
Continuous liaising with Revenue Accounting department or other internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full time basis fr anyone other than their current employer.
Indept knowledge of SOX and contributing to business improvement is required.
Identify and provide recommended solutions for HCA Process Improvements and opportunities to streamline business and improve operational efficiencies.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting preferred, or related area or
7 - 10 years experience in oil & gas accounting.
Knowledge of oil & gas production concepts or CAPPA certification.
Knowledge of Prism, and Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent analytical skills, specifically around data retrieval and interpretation.
Excellent organizational, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Effective time management, independently setting priorities and goals.
Exercises sound judgment in decision making, demonstrating a clear understanding of issues involved.
Ability to independently troubleshoot process and system issues, making adjustments/corrections within delegated authorities.
Ability to work in a sometimes unstructured and constantly changing environment to accomplish goals.
Ability to develop strong working relationships with other organizations within Canada.
Ability to communicate with Shell business partner representatives in a professional manner.
Working conditions are stressful resulting from managing growth, complexity of the asset, and championing change in a deadline driven environment.
Very strong knowledge of either Alberta or British Columbia provincial regulatory requirement.
Knowledge of British Columbia provincial regulatory requirement is an asset.
Proven experience leading or mentoring a team of at least 10 or more people is preferred.
A solid understanding of Petroleum Registry in Alberta is requred.
