Responsibilities:
Shell Canada Limited is looking to hire a professional with commercial experience and/or a professional with the appropriate procurement experience. The Marketing Procurement Manager (PM) role is part of the Americas Procurement Retail team which requires a top performing self directed Procurement professional.
This role works closely with Retail Procurement, two other Marketing PMs and the business marketing groups supported (Brands & Communications and Payment & Loyalty) at the global and local level. The Marketing Procurement Manager (PM) is responsible for contracting and executing retail goods and services agreements as required by the business at the most market competitive terms. This is done through the use of market analysis, stakeholder needs analysis, strategy development, strategy implementation, tendering/On-line Bidding, negotiation and contract management. The portfolio includes up 70+ contracts with an annual expenditure up to $1 billion USD.
Accountabilities Include:
Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the market for the categories in key markets
Provide a strong commercial influence in the thinking and behaviour of the users of materials and/or services in the region
Business interface for the category on a day-to-day basis with regional Retail stakeholders and ensure local Retail needs are met
Explore and exploit cross-business leverage opportunities for services with other lines of business i.e. Commercial, Lubricants, Distribution, etc.
Report Value Improvements for the Categories and to the Global Category Managers
Conduct bids, on-line bids, negotiations and manage subsequent supplier performance
Model options for award strategies to optimize value including quality, commerciality, and timing/speed to market
Manage supplier relationships including resolution of operational and supplier performance issues relating to the commercial terms of contract
Interact, align and maintain close productive relationships with Retail Marketing, Network and Sales & Operations stakeholders
Responsible for ensuring that key Retail and Downstream initiatives are implemented within the category as they relate to CP
Responsible for ensuring that Category Strategies incorporate the requirements of the Global Master Data content strategy.
Ensure a proactive and professional interaction with business stakeholders in Americas to provide seamless efficient delivery
Ensure Retail recognition of the added value of a global CP organization
Identify opportunities for leverage and best practice sharing
Exploit external market knowledge by proactively delivering external insights into Retail and CP
Implementing contract changes that include key items such as legal changes, risk and insurance changes
Conducting risk assessments and ensuring HSSE requirements are met
Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelors Degree prefer; MBA and/or SCMP designation would be considered an asset
5+ years commercial CP experience
Finance knowledge/experience is an asset
Strong procurement experience, i.e. SCMP, ISM, - strategy development and execution, negotiations, contract / supplier performance management is an asset
Previous C&P experience or of the Brands & Comm and/or PayLo business is an asset
Functional knowledge of standard procurement tools, techniques & processes such as Emptoris, SAP, Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook, etc.
Possess a strong commercial acumen and commercial curiosity and ability to understand and work through complex commercial arrangements with new and existing suppliers
Sound understanding of the Retail Center of Business, its business direction and strategy
Proven track record of execution excellence and delivering results
Possess a willingness and ability to tactfully challenge current ways of working, and to learn externally what opportunities exist for improvement
Requires innovative approaches to develop new value improvement opportunities
Ability to quickly respond to shifts in the overall marketplace
