Responsibilities:

The RE portfolio manager is a critical leadership position and is responsible for delivering local/market unit network real estate objectives as part of an integrated network plan that will improve Retail's competitive position and deliver best in class value and growth. This person provides strategic and tactical direction to the team and enables the delivery of the strategy in a efficient and commercially focused manner. The RE portfolio manager provides wider leadership for network by engaging with other retail functions,seeking input and alignment to a shared vision which is essential to the success of the network function and strategy.

The RE portfolio manager is also responsible for coordinating with the Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) to balance between delivering the real estate agenda and the local business requirements.

Specifically,the RE portfolio manager:
Delivers growth programs through Shell and service provider; ties the acquisition & disposal targets to joint Shell & partner business objectives, collectively delivering the network strategy
Owns partner relationship,creating unified team based on common goals and trust such that it promotes delivery of significant value both for Shell and partner; is the local contract owner and ensures Shell contract management plan and assurance framework is embedded and adhered to
Shapes the relationship to broaden partner integration into Shell processes to enable seamless project delivery of CO NTI/S (Company own; new to industry/ Shell), disposals and lease renewals tied to multi-year plans
Targets commercial opportunities and prioritizes key activities that deliver the most value
Promotes interaction with the real estate industry and retailing businesses to understand the impact of trends on Shell's portfolio
Benchmarks Shell and partner team vs. the industry professionals to ensure top quartile performance
Continuously improves the delivery of acquisitions,disposals and property management via interfaces with key stakeholders such that it facilitates effective decision making
Responsible for internal comms & alignment with Engineering,Planning, Marketing, Finance, Sales, external partners etc in support of delivery of Real Estate,Network & Retail objectives
Ensures consistent application of & compliance with all RE standard processes.
The special challenge in this role is the need to embed a change in ways of working and scope of services from the partner. There is an anticipation that the partner will need to manage other 3rd party brokers in order to strengthen overall real estate services across Canada specifically. This requires not just contractual changes but improvement in interfacing within Shell (eg Legal, IT, Sales & Operations, Engineering, Planning, Finance) and with other strategic partners (eg. facilities management company, project management company, soil & groundwater consultant).

Requirements:

BBA, BComm, BEcon or equivalent degree or real estate certification preferred
5-10 years in a professional real estate role
professional retail real estate experience and a good overall understanding of the retail business will be an advantage
demonstration of experience in managing external partners will be critical, strong influencing and stakeholder engagement skills,
astute attention to detail while demonstrating ability to think broadly
strong commercial acumen
experience in working with multicultural, global teams
demonstration of experience in managing external partners will be critical.
