Responsibilities:
· Manage product development and cycle life for Criterion's portfolio of hydrotreating catalyst
· Work w/ Marketing Network to launch products and wit Projects & Technology Downstream to deploy in Shell refineries first
· Lead kinetic modeling and VGPET (Virtual Global Performance Estimating Team) to improve technical bids
· The selected individual will have no direct reports
Additional responsibilities include:
· Assess Regional and Global Market Requirements: Work with Marketing Managers to understand regional product development requirements and target customers
· Lead HCOT (Hydrotreating Catalyst Opportunity Team): includes Contracts & Procurement, Tech Service, PTD-T, and Marketing to understand internal refinery needs and to deploy catalyst solutions for competitive advantage.
· Drive Hydroprocessing Catalyst R&D Program: Provide direction to R&D based on regional and global market, as well as internal refinery requirements both through formal PDMT (Product Development Management Team) meetings and on day-to-day basis. Work with R&D to formulate specific program objectives, ensuring optimal use of R&D resources. Work with Regional Tech Service Managers to plan customer pilot plant testing
· Manage New Product Launch and Product Cycle Life: Work with Regional Marketing and Tech Service Managers on regional product launch processes using Technology Transfer Process (target customers, technical data, pilot plant testing). Work with Marketing Network to determine product naming, timing for product replacement and retirement, product positioning and application
· Drive Kinetic Modeling and Technical Performance Estimate for Criterion: Work with PTD-TRH and VGPET (Virtual Global Performance Estimating Teams that include Licensing, Criterion, TRH), as well as Tech Service Network to set goals/requirements for kinetic models (HDStar, CFH, NHT, etc). Set priorities and funding levels.
· Drive Mild Hydrocracking (MHC) Development: Work with RMM’s and TSM’s to identify commercially viable DMHC and VGO-MHC target customers, obtain customer feeds, and plan customer-specific technical service PP tests. Drive development of MHC modeling capabilities through the kinetic modeling efforts and the MHC VGPET teams.
· Manage OpEx and CapEx funds:
o OPEX: $23 million per in R&D spending,$.75 million per year in kinetic modeling spend.
o CAPEX: Justify future R&D CapEx for hydroprocessing R&D
Requirements:
· Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.
· Must have Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, or equivalent
· Minimum of ten (10) years experience in refining technology/ w commercial experience preferred
· Broad knowledge of refining process technology and the application of catalysts
· Demonstrated team player and leader with multi-cultural teams
· Some international business experience
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Technical Assurance 2/3 in Hydroprocessing catalyst selection preferred
