Location: Fort McMurray,AB., Alberta, Canada

Responsibilities:

· The successful candidate for this role, must be willing to relocate / reside in the Wood Buffalo Region. This is not a Fly In, Fly Out role.

· Complies with legislated requirements related to emergency response as well as the care and treatment of illness and injury.

· Ensure that medical directives and nursing protocols are available and current.

· Provide coverage in the Medical Centre to provide initial assessment, nursing interventions, and follow-up for work and non-work related illness or injury to minimise effect of illness, injury or disability to promote safe and early return to work.

· Provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) medical emergency response for site and mutual aid partners.

· Act as the medical authority with the Emergency Response Team.

· Participate in the Incident Command System (ICS) with the role of medical officer/triage officer.

· Provide initial Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) post significant incident.

· Perform prescribed clinical health assessments or monitoring for site according to HSSE Control Framework.

· Review results to determine Fitness for Duty and provide consultation or co-ordinate feedback to team members, management and HR. Assessments to include: pre-employment, return to work, fitness for duty, and medical surveillance testing.

· Provide case management and referrals for short-term work and non-work related illness or injury.

· Duties to include early case identification, assessment and intervention techniques, effective case management and referrals to mitigate barriers to ensure safe and early return to work.

· Undertake health promotion initiatives consistent with Health Services strategic objectives.

· Provide expert technical advice on job-related health issues and provide health information/education for individuals or groups.

· Provide expert technical advice to EMTs, and Occupational Physician, on medical protocols and emergency medical treatment.

· Drug and Alcohol Testing for Pre-employment, Pre-Access, Post Incident, and Reasonable Cause

· Maintain accurate health records according to Shell Health Confidentiality and Health Records Management Guidelines.

Requirements:

· Excellent skills for assessing, and treatment of work and non-work related illness or injury.

· Dedication to safe work and environmental responsibility.

· Ability to work in a flexible work environment.

· Ability to work in a team environment.

· Ability to utilize various commercial software packages (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Web Browsers, Med Gate, and SAP).

Education:

· Registration with College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.

· Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.

· Advanced First Aid Certification.

· Pulmonary Function Certification current or within 6 months of hire.

· Audiometric Certification current or within 6 months of hire.

· Occupational Health Nursing Certificate with Certification would be an asset.

· Drug and Alcohol Testing Certification would be an asset.

Experience:

· 5 years experience in Acute or Critical Care Nursing.
