The objective of the role is to carry out plan appraisal of structural aspects of a variety of lifting appliances and material handling equipment such as cranes mounted on ships, barges, platforms, LSA handling davits, elevators, heavy lift cranes, industrial and dockside cranes and other equipment of novel design.

Plan appraisal of structural aspects of lifting appliances and materials handling equipment in accordance with LR's Code for Lifting Appliances and other National / International standards / Codes / Regulations as applicable using direct calculation methods including use of Mathcad and FE Analysis techniques as appropriate and prepare all types of technical reports / correspondence as required.

To provide technical assistance to clients and LR surveyors with regards lifting appliances matters.

To liaise with clients and LR local offices with regards lifting appliances matters.

Masters Degree with minimum 5 years of relevant working experience or Bachelors degree with minimum 7 years of relevant working experience.
Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
Working towards achieving Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
Good command of the English Language (both written and oral).
Knowledge & working experience of Lifting Appliances design / appraisal (structural aspects).
Knowledge of applicable Codes / Standards for Lifting Appliances commensurate with work.
Knowledge & working experience of software packages required for FE Analysis of the lifting appliances.
Ability to work under pressure without sacrificing the quality.
Good interpersonal skills, good team-worker as well as ability to work independently.
