QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Optical/Mechanical engineering, or equivalent
Hands-on experience in the design, production and testing of mechanical connectivity products
Design experience with high precision plastic components, formed metal components, and assemblies is desired
Proficiency in CAD,Pro-E,MS Office,experience with solid-works is better but not must.
Fluency in written and verbal English
Methodical, organized and detail-orientated work habits
Strong drive, initiative and follow-up
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Design, specify, and document fiber optic/mechanical products according to company procedures.
2. Create technical product drawings according to company procedures and to geometric tolerance principles.
3. Provide engineering support for the management of fiber/mechanical product suppliers.
4. Provide engineering support for quality assurance of fiber/mechanical products.
5. Manage multiple projects using established project management principles. These include project planning, using Gantt charts for scheduling, and controlling project elements such as cost and task completion dates, effectively communicating with project team, periodic reporting of status to management, and proactively communicating project problems to management.
6. Provide engineering support for other departments, such as Sales and Technical Support.
7. Assist with other product development projects, as a team member.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Analyze product failure and create corrective action plan.
2.Research and assure product compatibility with components and products manufactured by other companies.
3. Periodically visit customer's off-premises to provide technical support for product sales and to obtain feedback on new and pending project work.
4. Participate in industry standards committees on an as-needed basis, for the generation of standards related to existing, pending and planned product development.
5. Maintain a high level of awareness and expertise on product applications and general industry trends that may influence product development.
6. Maintain organized project files that retain all project information according to ISO requirements.
7. Follow departmental and company procedures. This is essential for ISO compliance. As required, contribute to the writing of new or improved procedures.
8. Collect and organize technical reference materials, such as literature and products.
9. Maintain an orderly and clean work environment
10. Follows all safety procedures and policies
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
