The Role
Title: Associate Research and Consulting Director
Location: full-time based in Shanghai, with occasional business travel to other cities

Scope
Research and Analytics
？ Design, propose, and execute social media business intelligence projects to address client needs
？ Synthesize findings, distill insights, and draw out implications to benefit client’s business objectives
？ Present deliverables with clear storyline, coherent logic, and compelling persuasion

Client Service and Biz Dev
？ Develop account engagement strategy, uncovering client’s unmet and latent needs, to identify opportunities for new and focused research and consulting programs
？ Anticipate and pre-empt challenges during client engagement cycle, with special emphasis on competitive pressure, client personnel changes, and quality of deliverable against expectation
？ Leverage category expertise and cross-industry best practice toll establish thought leadership and grow client revenue

Project management
？ Align client on project scope, deliverable specifics, and high level storyline before major progress reviews
？ Lead team in defining clear data request to internal supporting team, with consideration for data accuracy, processing efficiency, and analytic effectiveness
？ Allocate appropriate workload resources to ensure high quality deliverables against pre-determined milestones and deadlines
？ Maintain clear line-of-sight on project progress, leveraging cross-team collaboration where necessary, to ensure client satisfaction and internal project profitability

People management
？ Coach team members on social media understanding and methodology used in digital and social media research
？ Cultivate a pleasant, collaborative, and efficient work environment within CIC culture
？ Charter and implement employee career development plan
？ Conduct regular one-on-ones with direct reports to support employee personal growth
？ Follow company HR guideline in performance review, to identify talent, reward true performers, and manage under-performers

Education and experience
？ Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or advanced social science degree preferred
？ 6+ years experience in marketing research, and 2+ years in digital (e.g. planner capacity in digital agencies or internet companies)
？ 5+ years people management experience (ideally as manager of managers), with team size greater than 10
？ Experience servicing P&G, Unilever, J&J, and L’Oreal ideal
？ Track record in proposing and executing research innovations
？ Passion for social media, and general interest in digital media
