JD:
?Sets up test request priorities and liaise with Materials Lab Technician to ensure that tests are completed within a timely manner.
?To complete test requests using the available laboratory test equipment.
?Identify and order external laboratory tests when internal capability does not exist.
?Keep the Materials laboratory organized and maintain good housekeeping standards
?Work with Materials Lab Technician to ensure that the laboratory equipment is kept in good working order and calibrated.
?Identify the optimum materials for specific new product applications.
?Identify and analyse material cost saving opportunities in current or pending products.
?Identify and recommend significant material advancements for product applications.
?Participate as part of the material science consultant team for the entire business.
?Work with various support functions as required to complete projects.
?Define, promote and lead material related projects, tracking project timing, costs, and results.
?Participate in component problem analysis and resolution when requested.
?Technical writing of Materials specifications, Test work instructions and test reports.
?Remain up to date with both current and relevant material technology and the latest material processing techniques.
?Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge and Experience:
?Must have a minimum of five years of related experience and demonstrated accomplishments in a high tech manufacturing environment.
?Must have a proven track record of successful development implementations.
?A thorough understanding of Laboratory environment procedures
?A thorough understanding of Organic and Inorganic materials including adhesives, metal coatings, polymers, plastic injection moulding, insert moulding, adhesion to plastic substrates and anodising knowledge.
?Knowledge of Lab procedures and use of Lab equipment
?Knowledge of handling chemicals and materials
?Knowledge of critical and statistical data analysis and good working understanding of Minitab
?Ability to organise, analyse and concisely report technical data.
?Computer application skills in Microsoft office
?Good communication skills
?Good problem solving skills
