BASIC FUNCTIONS:
? Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies through analysis of company specifications and requirements.
? Utilize strategic sourcing methodologies to insure highly competitive pricing
? Develop in-depth knowledge of assigned commodities, global supply markets, and pricing trends.
? Provide management with forecasts of market conditions, price trends and potential problem areas.
? Develop, negotiate, and execute contracts/agreements with suppliers that minimize total cost, improve quality and assure on-time delivery.
? Manage performance against contract terms and recommend courses of action to rectify discrepancies.
? Analyze and evaluate quotations submitted directly or in response to Request for Quotations to assure that quality, capability and total cost are satisfactory.
? Analyze and interpret industry conditions and state of the art advancements, which may have an effect on design, lead-time, etc. Prepare statistical analysis of market trends for long range purchasing strategies.
? Serve as a cost/price analyst establishing annual standard costs and monitoring purchase price variances for assigned commodities.
? Review and substantiate price change announcements and communicate information with appropriate personnel.
? Establish supplier quality, delivery, lead-time and cost performance expectations across the supply base.
? Work with operations and manage overall supplier performance toward business goals.
? Drive the supply base to develop process improvements.
? Support design engineering in new product development including new material, new technologies, quoting and prototype orders.
? Identify and research new materials and manufacturing technologies.
? Place orders for prototype materials and parts.
? Lead cross functional commodity teams to establish and implement commodity strategies and tactics with particular emphasis on value analysis, process improvement, joint cost reduction and business strategy.
? Provide support to tactical purchasing for chronic performance issues related to quality and delivery.
? Work with suppliers to develop assured capacity and on-time deliveries to meet manufacturing schedules.
? Ensure minimal interruption and continuity of supply for assigned items.
? Responsible for overall performance of suppliers in assigned commodities
? Other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
? Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or relevant field required.
? Minimum 5 to 10 years of Sourcing and/or Supplier Development experience in a progressive strategic sourcing environment.
? Experience sourcing raw materials is critical to this position.
? Knowledge of ISO requirements and Supplier Audits.
? Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, TQM and continuous improvement methodologies.
? Excellent negotiation skills.
? Knowledge of materials requirement planning, inventory control techniques, value analysis, forecasting, production planning, cost/price analysis, use of standard costs, production processes (internal and at the suppliers), and markets impacting assigned products and planning.
? Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interaction at all levels of the organization.
? Ability to lead and work on projects in a team environment and across functions.
? Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
? Self confident and assertive, yet been able to contribute to the overall success of a team.
? Desire to implement change and possess a passion for excellence.
? Strong organizational and prioritizing skills.
? Strong planning and analysis skills coupled with results orientation.
? Strong analytical and PC skills including excellent working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
? Ability to travel on a regular basis to source for commodities.
PLUS FACTORS:
? Masters Degree preferred.
? Experience in metal fabrication, Injection molding and fabrics a plus.
? CPM, CPSM, APICS or other professional certifications preferred.
