Objective of job

• Conduct Advanced Logistics Planning and Supplier Management incl. problem resolution activities with the local supply base. Specialist will conduct Potential Analysis for sourcing decisions, manage and control supplier development, guide suppliers in advanced logistics activities and perform logistics process audits.
• Coordinate and perform international supply chain planning with suppliers, if necessary with 2nd-tier suppliers for new and/or resourced parts according to defined requirements.
• Coordinate with Logistics, Purchasing, and Manufacturing and Mercedes-Benz Cars plants. Conduct special tasks and maintain IT-Systems.
• Solve urgent capacity issues of suppliers in corporation with the German head office and find solutions with the suppliers in Asia.

Qualification required

• Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Logistics required, Master’s Degree preferred
• Quality (auditor) accreditation/certification preferred
• Experience
• Minimum of 3 years automotive industry (or comparable) experience
• Logistics, Quality and Manufacturing experience preferred
• Profound knowledge and experience in project management
• Proven capabilities in problem solving
• Specific Knowledge
• Excellent English language knowledge necessary. German language skills would be a plus
• International work experience and high intercultural sensitivity and social competence
• Willingness to travel in North East Asia (mainly China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan)
• Assertiveness as well as the ability to work in a team
• Interpersonal and problem solving skills as well as team orientation are necessary
• Experience - ISO/TS16949 and VDA 6.3
• Good knowledge of MS Office programs – Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS Project

Task designation

• 1. General
• Correlation and collaboration with peers and Commodity Groups.
• Prepare relevant data and support reporting.
• 2. Supplier Evaluation and Release/ ABC Classification of Parts
• Prepare and participate in source evaluations. Plausibility check and verification of development measures together with audit leader and, if necessary with 3rd parties.
• 3. Supplier Logistics Development/ Tier-n Management
• Support supplier development and work with suppliers, and if necessary with tier-n suppliers, on advanced logistic planning for selected projects; support problem resolution activity at the supplier when logistic issues arise.
• 4. Preventive & Reactive Supplier Management/ FMEAs
• Plan, organize and conduct “Round Tables” with cross functional team for early identification of supply problems through mandatory and active involvement of suppliers. Assessment of logistic-related parameters along the supply chain creation process and result communication.
• Review and release of supplier’s FMEAs. Control implementation of defined corrective measures and monitor their effectiveness together with suppliers.
• Set up and lead taskforce teams in case of emergencies or inadequate supplier performance to ensure material supply towards Mercedes-Benz plants. Preparation of management reports.
• Development and improvement of Methods for supplier-readiness-management.
• 5. Production Process and Product Release
• Planning, co-ordination and execution of process audits as a responsible lead auditor. Issuance of the audit report. Based on audit findings, controlling of necessary improvement measures and appropriate implementation, as well as the effectiveness measuring of corrective actions. If necessary, re-auditing of supplier’s processes.
• Set up project schedule and get supplier’s commitment for defined milestones.

• Prepare detailed documentation with all necessary approvals and achieve common understanding of actual logistic planning state.
