Objective of job

• Senior/Project Engineer of Engine application/calibration for engines and exhaust system development. Engineer for application and testing of imported and local built passenger cars engines regarding local requirements. Supporting the homologation and certification department in terms of testing procedures and emission tests in order to meet the legal emission standards.

Qualification required

• Education
• Graduate engineer (Master)
• Experience
• Several years in engine development. Intercultural experience (preferential China/Germany) and different intercultural background.
• Test driving experience
• Knowledge in the use of calibration tools
• Specific Knowledge
• Good Knowledge of engine management, engine combustion and general engine knowledge.
• Good communication skills in English and Chinese. Basic knowledge in German

Task designation

• Engine- and emission calibration/application based on local requirements e.g. fuel or other consumables and local driving profile for imported and local built vehicles.
• Coordination with Mercedes-Benz Head-Quarter Engine- and Exhaust system development departments in Germany.
• Support the local homologation department in terms of preparing engine and vehicle for certification testing, for endurance testing, On-Board-Diagnosis and emission testing. Follow up the certification and testing procedures.
• Executing engine failure diagnosis. Solving engine failures and reporting.
• Support the development of the exhaust system and catalysts.
• Support and Execute pre-testing regarding emissions, fuel consumption and On-Board-Diagnosis according to Chinese regulations.
• Defining, preparing and supporting durability vehicles for engine maturity-approval.
• Preparing and executing net-power tests on engine test benches.
• Support the Localization activities of the different engines projects (e.g. 4-cyl.engine M274)
• After-sales support for imported and locally produced passenger vehicles. Determine special market requirements concerning powertrain and vehicle. Collect and analyze data from customers’ cars.
