POSITION TITLE
Sales Director

CLIENT SUMMARY
Our client is a leading manufacturing of temperature insulation products. Their products are used in markets such as: metals, automotive, chemicals, petroleum products, power etc.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  1. The Emission Control Sales Director China is responsible for leading and obtaining annual sales program for China as assigned by Company management.
  2. Leads and develops new accounts, markets, and sales of new emission control products in accordance with the Company business plan.
  3. Maintains highest level of knowledge possible of Company products, their applications, services and policies. Services all emission control customers within China.
  4. Provides Company management with market information and competitive updates.
  5. Maintains cognizance of all market influences.
  6. Develops and delivers Company Business Plan and operates within assigned budget.
  7. Manages channels of distribution. Penetrates and develops new accounts while maintaining existing business and integrating product/process and application knowledge into successful territory plan.
  8. Calls on prospective customers, provides information and demonstrations. Assesses customer requirements and competitor activity. Sells the company's products exclusively within the automotive market.
  9. The position reports to the General Manager, Far East. Position has direct contact with the Emission Control Marketing Managers, Customer Service Representatives, and Application Engineers. Travel is normally required, must have the ability to work independently.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead Sales team to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Target A, B and C accounts by present and potential sales revenues/EBITDA, cost to sell and service, and probability of success.
  • Allocate time and call frequency based on A, B and C targeting. Develop quarterly call plans with each member of sales team and utilize closed loop process in order to monitor progress towards goals.
  • Make the appropriate number of calls on prospects versus customers. Identify potential growth areas and open new accounts.
  • Increase market share by calling on key accounts to promote products, communicate special programs, present marketing/advertising programs and new products, prepare and conduct training and educational seminars, collect competitive information, handle and resolve problems and complaints, and collect overdue receivables.
  • Utilize Knowledge Based Sales Model to develop trust by becoming the knowledge source for your customers.
  • Sell all products but concentrate on those contributing higher EBITDA.
  • Prepare written presentations, reports and price quotations. Comfortable making presentations to large audiences.
  • Continually learn new product knowledge and acquire improved selling skills.
  • Keep abreast of competition, competitive issues, products and markets for products.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings, product seminars and trade shows.
  • Develop strategic plans to penetrate key OEM's.
  • Develops precise succession plans for sales team members.
  • Assist with Company strategy development.
  • Utilize customer service reps for follow-up and smaller accounts.
  • Teach sales team to call on accounts in clusters. Work one section of territory each day. Use loops and cloverleafs.
  • Plan each call utilizing tools such as DiSC Sales Action Planner.
  • After each call update customer profile and complete call report in Lotus Notes ACDC database.
  • Maintain customer profiles and customer files.
  • Submit the following in a timely manner: Strategic Matrix, call reports, forecasts, activity reports, expense reports.
  • Communicate competitive information to corporate marketing.
  • Complete and submit credit applications for new accounts.
  • Conducts monthly coaching sessions with direct reports.
  • Comply with all company policies and operate within expense budget.
  • Work with, develop positive relationships with, communicate with, and coordinate activities with employees in other functional areas.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. in an engineering discipline; MBA preferred
  • Demonstrated sales experience success selling ideas and/or products to both internal and external customers; industrial market sales experience preferred.
  • Other backgrounds may include product development, product or marketing management, application engineering, project or program management.
  • Training in selling and negotiations skills preferred.
  • Background in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering and emission control preferred.
  • Motivated with strong ability to build relationships.
  • Previous experience with distributor sales management is preferred.
  • An understanding of pricing and ordering structures; product, technical and application data; competitive products and applications; blueprint reading; and industrial product knowledge is required.
  • Knowledge of automotive market in China, contacts to OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • PC literacy, including Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office.
