职位描述

PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
The position will take direction from the External Manufacturing EHS Program Director and provide support to the BMS External Manufacturing organization. The primary objective of the position is to assist with building a reliable external manufacturing network which has EHS programs consistant with pharma industry standards. The position will provide EHS support to BMS External Manufacturing staff, assist with supplier EHS assessments, development of facility EHS improvement recommendations, prepare written reports, tracking of any actions associated with assessment report, and work with other pharma industry counterparts to develop/improve pharmaceutical industry supplier standards and capability building tools. The position will interact with key decision makers in External Manufacturing, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Global Procurement, Finance, Legal, CEHSS and R&D organizations within BMS.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participate in developing baseline understanding of external manufacturing supplier EHS programs to identify potential EHS related risks and possible improvement opportunities. Tools that will be used include EHS questionnaires, web based information searches, and on-site assessments.
2. Utilize facility assessment information and continuous improvement philosophy to ensure that Third Party Manufacturer (TPM) EHS systems operating on behalf of BMS, meet international environmental and safety standards, including;
? appropriate management of BMS product and packaging related wastes,
? protection of workers from over-exposure to BMS related compounds through engineering controls and personal protective equipment,
? acceptable environmental controls for process related emissions to the environment,
? fire protection systems which minimize the potential for long term business interruptions,
? process safety evaluations of all manufacturing processes associated with BMS products, and
? strong EHS compliance records.
3. Periodically meet with and provide regular updates on issues to designated BMS External Manufacturing/Procurement personnel to review external manufacturing activity needs and program metrics. Advise and support External Manufacturing employee on EHS matters related to managing supplier partners as requested, including incident related support.
4. Support and collaborate with colleagues in External Manufacturing to address any EHS related issues that arise in our dealings with TPM in the context of wider contract management.
5. Review the bi-weekly BMS MSDS update distribution and ensure that applicable copies of any updated MSDS are provided to affected TPM partners.
6. Work with BMS External Manufacturing personnel to develop and implement supplier specific Product Accountability and Disposal Management Plans (PADM) as specified by the BMS Directive BMS-CD-014r.
7. Participate in pharma industry initiative programs related to supplier sustainability, such as the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain (PSCI).
8. Assist with the management of chemical registration issues under REACH, GHS, CLP, or other regional initiatives outside of the United States.
9. Work cooperatively with BMS R&D to share EHS evaluation reports and information related to suppliers that are common to both groups.
10. Work with BMS Corporate Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability to support corporate sustainability programs.
11. Participate in other department EHS assignments as required, including self development of EHS and leadership skills.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL
? Education: At least 4-year college degree in a science field, with a strong preference for chemistry, environmental science, engineering, industrial hygiene, or fire protection. Internationally recognized certifications, such as CIH, CSP, CHMM, or PE will be a plus.
? Experience: Must have at least 8 years of EHS experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical or related industry, preferably at least half of it at a facility level. The successful candidate should have field experience in more than 1 area of EHS expertise, including understanding of regulatory requirements, with a preference for someone with both environmental and safety/industrial hygiene related experience. The candidate must have some experience with conducting EHS related facility audits or self assessments.
? Skills: The successful candidate must have excellent writing skills, as well as the ability present in front of others on technical related matters. The candidate must be able to demonstrate successful track record in execution and completion of objectives and that they can effectively work independently. The candidate must have demonstrated project management skills and be able to formulate and defend ideas and projects. The candidate must have the self confidence and the ability to advise on EHS requirements which cannot be compromised. Preferably the candidate will have a working knowledge of an EHS Management Systems (ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, or PSCI Principles)

WORKING CONDITIONS
? Must be able to travel internationally by air across multiple time zones for up to 20 hours at a time. Must be able to adjust sleeping habits to accommodate new environments on a regular basis.
Manual Dexterity
? Must be able to gown into GMP related clothing when touring supplier worksites.
? Must be able to communicate in writing and vebally in English. Fluency in a second language may be an asset for some regions.
? Some regional travel may require vaccinations.
? Requires 10-20% travel, including international travel which may extend beyond 1 week at a time. Must be in possession of a valid passport or capable of obtaining one without restrictions.
