The Mission
To make sure the Site is able to hire associates, successfully grow their Red Hat careers, in a high morale environment.

Job Description
Red Hat is a company with horizontal global teams and vertical business structures. The role of the site Manager is to traverse both axis by representing the needs of the associates against the needs of the business. A part-time Site Manager is needed for mid-sized sites around 100+ associates while larger sites with 200+ associates will require a full time Site Manager.

The Site Manager inhabits a unique leadership position and has its own unique challenges. Some of these challenges are in influencing the right behaviours in staff without formal management responsibilities, immature tools that do not accurately reflect Red Hat's command and control apparatus, and lack of direct authority to manage internal services.

The Site Manager must use ingenuity and creativity to overcome these challenges and succeed. They must earn the respect of the population and ensure others understand their contributions. They must be the liaison between the on-site population, Red Hat and local providers and entities.

The Site Manager is responsible for the site's ability to hire people and the integration of new hires into Red Hat's horizontal and vertical structures. They must monitor the key metrics around this success and growth in an effort to improve Site efficiency.

Although these responsibilities are indirect they are absolutely material and vital for the success of the Site for the business.

For example, the Site Manager is not responsible for any particular hire, but is responsible for coordinating public relations, university programs, events and external activities and competitive job offers. The Site Manager is not responsible if somebody leaves, but is responsible for keeping low attrition by ensuring salary consistency, internal communication, training programs, and career opportunities.

If an associate doesn’t know who is the right person to ask a question to, (s)he should feel empowered to go to the Site Manager.


Key responsibilities

People:
Support for engineers and remote managers
“Go to” person for associates
Strategies around retention, salary, people growth, internal mobility, training and promotion
Assist in retaining key talent
Assist with hiring and promotion of local managers
Indirect supervision and mentoring of local managers
Encourage and coordination a reward system

Hiring:
Recruitment strategy (including compensation)
Site profile – identify available talents
Strategies around long-term hiring capability
Internship program supervision and funding

Internal:
Strategies around office expansion
Assist and guide office operations and other internal services (IT, Finance...)
Manage the Site budget, activities and meeting structure
Sign contracts and approve invoices.
Ensure that purchases, suppliers and services comply with Red Hat's applicable policies and standards.
Ensure cultural differences become one of Red Hat's competitive advantages by developing programs to help with understanding our differences.
Define, communicate and participate in site policies and procedures (finance, security, IT...)
Proactively identify key issues (site efficiency, attrition...)
Report as needed (monthly site report, quarterly budget report...)
Communicate within the site and with the rest of Red Hat

External:
Foster relationships with local communities
Foster relationships with Government authorities
Foster relationships with Universities around R&D programs, curriculum and study plans
Provide marketing and PR to future and current employees
Communicate with the appropriate protocols with journalists, partners and customers. This includes on-site visits
Engage service providers and landlord when needed
Comply with local legislation and regulations
