About the Position
This newly created position is intended to provide GFI management and International Credit management with analysis and insights into the local banking system. The candidate will report directly to John Sapoch, Head of GFI Portfolio Strategies and Credit Origination but will collaborate closely with Country Risk Management, GFI Credit, and GFI Relationship teams and will provide critical insights to be used in the development of GFI credit strategies in the local market.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility will be to develop expert knowledge and understanding of the local banking system including:
· Analysis, research, presentations, regarding the safety and soundness of the banking system including practices and competencies of local bank regulators.
· Develop and nurture relationships with senior contacts at the local government agencies and regulators relevant to the health of the local banking system.
· Collaboration and consultation with Country Risk, GFI Credit, PSCO Senior Lenders and GFI Relationship teams in assessing risks and developing credit strategies used in the management of the GFI Portfolio.
· Provide briefings to executive management and senior risk management regarding the local banking system
Requirements:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
· Experience in the analysis of banking system risk including knowledge of the impacts on sovereign and bank counterparty risk.
· Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with government and regulatory contacts across the local banking system.
· Knowledge of Rating Agencies and bank Credit Analysis: Fitch Ratings, S&P and Moody's.
Education
· B.A. or equivalent.
· Recommended course work includes: business finance, macroeconomics, financial markets, financial accounting, statistics, and computer science.
· Graduate degrees in related fields desirable.
Skills
· Strong organizational and project management skills
· Strong communication and presentation skills
· Fluency in Mandarin and English
