The team is focused on driving peer-reviewed clinical proof, external focus / supporting clinical collaborator needs, and re-imagining the future of diagnostic imaging.
Role Summary/Purpose
Job Purpose: As a Research Manager for the GE Healthcare Science and Technology Organization, you will work with leading academic institutions to help re-imagine the impact of our GE technology on clinical practice, specifically focusing on research activities aligned with the MICT & AW business needs, while influencing overall growth of the research center of excellence at GEHC.
Essential Responsibilities
Job Summary: You will drive and manage MICT & AW clinical research at key Chinese academic sites in cancer, heart disease, neurological diseases, and other conditions to facilitate generation of evidence to support technology development, regulatory submission, and peer-reviewed independent publications providing clinical proof for new applications and technologies. You may also be involved in early-stage physics/technology research at select institutes and with our global engineering and research teams. You will be a customer-focused problem solver, helping GE and our academic research collaborators meet mutual objectives. You will be a member of the global research team and may have additional opportunity for connection and leadership of projects and initiatives outside of the immediate region. Essential Functions: • Work with clinical sites to drive the development of MICT & AW research activities, primarily focused on evidence in support of product introduction in the developing market. • Serve as the MICT & AW global research team lead supporting new product program teams and regulatory product strategy from China. • Partner with the product development team in setting business strategy by communicating research impact on product pipeline and executing to the plan. • Learn and lead GE research activities in the region following and improving established procedures for compliance, success, and simplification of the research process. • Lead and collaborate with the global cross-functional team (incl. clinical affairs, medical affairs, regulatory, legal, compliance, operations, finance, and research) to identify needs, brainstorm, and propose best path forward to conduct and deliver research results while leveraging applicable resources. Provide scientific and process support to research studies of advanced clinical technologies. • Lead regularly scheduled clinical conference calls with a focus on development and progress of the active research portfolio including support of research aligned with new product programs and developments in advanced clinical applications. • Work with clinical sites and field experts providing scientific support leading to independent papers and published results in the scientific community. In collaboration with clinical partners, modality and regional marketing, engineering, central functions and GE Global Research, grow to analyze, understand, and translate unmet clinical needs and scientific developments related to the product line into strategic inputs to the modality and central business priorities. Develop and evaluate technical and clinical feasibility studies of advanced technologies. • Complete study documentation and progress, ensuring successful communication and handoff of deliverables and results to the appropriate business catcher. • Maintain proper study records, documenting and communicating results within the P&L and STO. • Develop scientific technical publications (white papers) in support of GE technology. Provide scientific and clinical support related to research to collaborators and GE team members when needed. Support research activity with collaborators during face to face opportunities including site visits and national and regional academic conferences. • Become an expert and advocate to translate research process to business needs to drive research forward while leveraging applicable resources. • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required. Primary focus will be on research collaboration with academic sites and SFDA approved collaborators. Position will be based in Beijing, China
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications / Requirements:• BS and/or MS in Physics or Engineering, MD, or acceptable equivalent Excellent communication & interpersonal skills • Industry or academic experience in CT & CT applications or related field • Previous experience in working directly with clinical sites Demonstrated ability to lead multiple activities, influence others• Independently motivated• Desire to grow clinical knowledge, network, and responsibility• Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must be responsive and willing to take ownership of issues and drive resolution.• Demonstrated ability to lead multiple activities, influence others• Independently motivated team player able to work closely with a global team and open to sharing information and best practices• Experience in Medical Device industry with firm understanding of working in a regulated environment• Clinical, scientific, and technical competence related to the P&L• Ability to understand and manage research budgets, resources and timelines• Experience in working directly with academic researchers• Ability to communicate in English Ability and willingness to travel
