Key Objectives:


  • The manager ‘business analysis & strategy’ supports strategic decisions via research and analyses. BMW China is operating in a very dynamic and volatile market environment. It is key for BMW China to have most current and accurate information as the basis for strategic decisions that will define the success of BMW in China. The necessary information can only partly be provided from global sources but need to be locally sourced and interpreted. Moreover, based on the body of market knowledge a number of strategic projects must be driven across the legal entities in China.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Tracking of overall business development and operating performance of competitors; Strategic evaluation of their strengths & weaknesses, actions, and associated implications.

  • Investigate and manage information sources for business and market intelligence.

  • Search, evaluate, and share relevant industry news with management on a regular basis.

  • Research and benchmark NEV industry developments.

  • Analysis of the complex and fast-changing China automotive industry and market, with special focus on the premium segment, identifying key trends and implications

  • Analyze the impact of macro economy and emerging industrial policies on market development and BMW operation in China

  • Prepare management and external stakeholder presentations, reports, and decision proposals. This requires driving cross-functional communication and alignment.

  • Strategic market research, including mid- to long-term forecasts


Education / Degree:


  • Diploma in Business Administration, MBA, or equivalent


Knowledge / Skills / Competences:


  • Strategic thinking skills; able to identify key points, plan and organize analyses in a structured way

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, good sense of figures

  • Strong initiative and self-motivation to align cross-department efforts, strong self-assertion and implementation skills

  • Familiar with Excel and PowerPoint, able to make analyses in a highly-efficient manner

  • Strong presentation skills, able to present results in a professional format

  • Ability to work under pressure, excellent teamwork skills, excellent ability to communicate

  • Developed network within the local automotive industry

  • Willingness to work in an intercultural working environment

  • Negotiation-level English and Chinese. Basic knowledge of German is advantageous


Experience:


  • Familiarity with the Chinese automotive industry landscape and development - ideally gained at a premium brand or foreign OEM.

  • 5-7 years working experience in industry; consulting experience a plus

  • Strategy development and implementation

  The BMW Group is one of the most successful manufacturers of automobiles and motorcycles in the world with its BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce brands. As a global company, the BMW Group operates 24 production facilities in 13 countries and has a global sales network in more than 140 countries.

  The BMW Group achieved a global sales volume of approximately 1.46 million automobiles for the 2010 financial year. Revenues for 2010 totalled euro 60.477 billion. At 31 December 2010, the company employed a global workforce of 95,453 associates.
