Business Group IT (BGIT) is looking for an Service Operations Systems Engineer to provide Operations expertise and problem management services for mission critical enterprise applications that standardize methodologies for software development, software testing and project management. The position will be part of Business Group IT (BGIT) and is an excellent opportunity for a process driven individual with strong technical, organizational, and communication skills and a passion for customer service and problem solving. The job is located at the Beijing campus in China.

In this role, you will partner with peer teams and the business groups to:
Deliver on strategies for the continual improvement of BGIT supported services and products that support product ship cycles and the next wave of product development, proactively identify and action application issues, produce operational analysis and showcase IT best practices for application services, enable incident management teams to resolve application issues and provide escalation support, and provide high performing and available applications and services through rigorous change, release, configuration, security, capacity, incident and problem management practices.

The Service Operations Systems Engineer will be responsible for:
Delivering outstanding application support. This individual will also be expected to proactively identify areas for improvement, proactive problem trouble shooting and analysis, drive projects, execute against operational task’s with the highest level of quality and efficiency, contribute to Service road map’s, build customer relationships, and successfully implement changes in the environment from minor settings and standard administrative actions to full scale deployments.

Core position responsibilities:
- Ensuring high availability for a mission critical applications via execution of operational tasks with the highest level of proficiency and quality.
- Drive DCRs and bugs into the product groups who write our tools to improve future versions of the service
- Understand in deep technical detail how each application in the portfolio functions from the application tier perspective
- Participation in the planning and implementation of new application or version releases into production.
- Carrying out Problem Management root cause analysis based on application monitoring, performance counters, reliability measurements, and support incidents to reduce infrastructure errors and improve efficiencies.
- Contributing to documentation for new or existing applications in line with BGIT standards.
- Capacity planning, analyzing Service growth and feeding into service growth forecasting
- Collaborating with Service providers, enhancing the working relationship and holding 3rd parties accountable for their SLA’s
- Creative problem solving to restore service availability must be able to collect engineering requirements for tools\service enhancement and engage with BGIT engineering team to ensure features are delivered on time with positive outcomes.
- Responsibility for the provision of support in line with the BGIT SLA, ensuring that each reported problem is resolved in a timely manner, tracked according to standards and escalated as appropriate. Leading or participating in PMIR and Major Incidents.
- Responsibility for the execution of tasks and projects to achieve the support team's business objectives.
- Responsible for delivering and promoting customer service that meets BGIT customer satisfaction goals
- Responsible for coordinating and executing production change activities at the hardware platform, and application level. In a regional capacity the successful candidate may be required to participate in Service Management activities, contribute to new service onboarding, Service reviews etc


Projects include:
- Changes to application configuration
- Assisting with the creation of automation scripts for recurring repetitive operational tasks.
- Beta testing of new or updated Microsoft products
- Communicating and creating clear operational road maps for supported applications
Capacity planning
- Deploying new services/applications



A successful candidate will possess most of the following skill set requirements:

- 5+yrs Strong technical skills in Microsoft technologies including Windows 2008 R2/2012, Networking, Distributed File Systems, Clustering, NLB, command-line-scripting, SQL Server, SQL Always On, IIS, and understanding of SAN technologies.
- 2+ years experience in application development such as, .NET, ASP, T-SQL, C# and PowerShell.
- Understanding of core concepts behind MOF or ITIL and experience with implementing 1 or more operational modules within these frameworks.
- Understanding of Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, and Release Management best practices in an operations environment.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills with ability to effectively work with diverse range of peers and customers in different regions and time-zones.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and DNS in both a Corpnet and Internet context.
- Understanding of Software Lifecycle methodology and information systems development.
