Job Description

Position Title:

Environment Manager, MUSC Site

Working Location:

Caojing, Shanghai

Geographical Coverage:

MUSC Site

Direct Supervisor Title:

ESHQ Director, GC Region & MUSC Site

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

  • Responsible for the development and enforcement of environmental management system to ensure in compliance with all related company and law requirements for the Site;
  • Responsible for the management and operation of environmental protection on the site to ensure in compliance with all related company, law and customer requirements;
  • Build up expertise and work process in Environmental Management system and environmental protection technology for the site be able to support business and operations activities/ development;
  • Proactively handle and involve in authority related operational Environmental matters and maintain solid contact and work relationship with relevant authority and interested parties.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNT ABILITY

  • Plan, organize, address, manage all the activities of Environmental management system and environmental protection at the site to ensure compliance with the company requirement and law requirement in the Site;
  • Organize and support for ISO14001 and responsible care programs establishment and implementation at the Site.
  • Responsible for waste management including requirements, technical data, contactors, lab operation for waste water, solid waste and other wastes;
  • Develop and implement value-added environmental programs, services and guidance to the site;
  • Handle authorities’ related operational environmental matters at the site, such as approvals, permit, license, assessment, inspection, monitoring etc.
  • Maintain meaningful and solid contact and relationship with environmental related authorities to ensure efficient co-operation between the company and the authorities;
  • Maintain required environmental reporting for the site;
  • Conduct environmental incident investigation and emergency drill on the site;
  • Provide necessary Environmental management system and environmental protection training to people on the site;
  • Solid contract with external vendors including waste, waste water and others

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE BASE

  • University /Master degree, majoring in chemistry, environmental or related;
  • Over 8 years on environmental protection or ESHQ related;
  • Good skills in management and communication;
  • Sound knowledge of environmental related regulation and operation is highly preferred
  • Hard-working and reliable;
  • Good skills in oral and written English.

TEAM AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

  • Organize and coordinate internal and external resources to achieve site goals and objectives in environmental management system and environmental protection;
  • Maintain an efficient communication with local authorities, BU/function heads and operation managers;
  • Train and develop environmental management system and skills and knowledge for people in the site;
  • Influence skill with expertise and the candid value.

DECISION MAKING

  • Is accountable for providing the site with the proper direction to ensure Environmental management and environmental protection issues are concerned;

FINANCIAL IMPACT

  • Assist ESHQ Head to plan and manage the annual operational budget for the site environmental management system and environmental protection related matters in terms of service and corporate activities, incl. waste management;
  • Support business growth with environmental management system and environmental protection related initiatives

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS AND NETWORKING

  • Influence internal and external parties on ESHQ management system and emergency management system.
  • Ability to persuade miscellaneous parties to achieve the objectives
  • Ability to positively interact with all levels of management, customers, suppliers, governmental institutions, consulting, etc.
  • Frequently sell professional recommendation and have to convince others (management, customers, etc.)

PROBLEM SOLVING AND INNOVATIVE THINKING

  • Resolve problems in the region wide on Environmental management system and environmental protection issues;
  • Capability to make judgment on critical issues with ESHQ head support;
  • Flexibility to manage unexpected situations.
