Role Summary/Purpose

The Avionic Systems Architect will be responsible for providing leadership in the evolution of the future generation avionics system architecture for the civil aircraft market. In this role, you will:


Essential Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and serve as the primary architect for next generation aircraft avionics systems. • Identify opportunities for more effective and efficient functional/physical integration of aircraft systems to reduce system cost, weight, and power to provide increased value to the customers/operators. • Coordinate closely with business development and project execution teams to understand customer needs and desires relating to avionics systems evolution. • Coordinate technology development needs with other Advanced Design Organization specialists (Processing, Displays, Human Centered Design, Networking) to ensure technology roadmaps are aligned to support the advanced avionics architectures. • Lead the technology development through Technical Readiness Levels (TRL) 1-6 • Provide input and guidance to the overarching technology roadmaps. • Support business proposal activities to bring forward the advanced architecture concepts into proposed solutions. • Determine areas where technology advancements are needed and recommend approaches / programs to pursue. • Provide consultation and technical direction to the engineering community on near term and longer-range projects with substantial business impact • Remain current in the state of the art for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions and problem resolutions. • Be a recognized leader in defining the state of the art in order to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities. • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company. • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.


Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college• Minimum of 15 years technical experience with major aircraft/avionics development programs including one or more of the following areas: Crew Interface Systems, Nav and Guidance, Aircraft Utilities, Integrated Computing platform, Aircraft Data Networks• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Leadership positions• A working knowledge of the ARP-4754a Systems Development Process is essential, ARP 4761, AC25.1309, and DO-297. The candidate must have experience leading a Systems team to define the requirements, architecture, and FAA required documentation for airborne avionics systems. The candidate must have a working knowledge of the systems engineering life cycle including requirements definition, validation, integration, certification, safety analysis, and verification.
