Role Summary/Purpose

The Integrated Modular Avionics Platform Expert will be responsible for providing technical leadership in the evolution of advanced high integrity airborne avionics platform and data network architectures. In this role, you will:

Essential Responsibilities

• This position will be responsible for providing the technical leadership for the development of the future generation of an Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) platform computing system for a Part-25 civil aircraft. • Identify network topologies and functional methodologies to increase bandwidth, availability and integrity of data transport • Define and refine networking architectural requirements. • Understanding of time and space partitioning operating systems • Lead the technology development through Technical Readiness Levels (TRL) 1-6 • Provide input and guidance to the overarching technology roadmaps. • Determine areas where technology advancements are needed and recommend approaches / programs to pursue. • Remain current in the state of the art networking methods and topologies. • Execute trade studies relating to the evolution of the networking topologies and functions. • Provide technical expertise to the business development team in support of discussions with potential customers. • Participate in industry committees relating avionics systems. • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers. • Key member of the research and development team.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college• Candidate must have a minimum of 20 years of technical experience in Avionics or Aircraft Systems or related Product design and development. • Prior experience working directly with customers to develop solutions to complex aircraft problems is required. • At least 10 years of experience defining requirements and architectures for computer systems, partitioned operating systems and/or high bandwidth data communications is required. • At least 5 years of experience including a full development life-cycle, with high-availability airborne computing and data networking systems. • A working knowledge of the ARP-4754a Systems Development Process is essential. The candidate must have experience leading a Systems team to define the requirements, architecture, and FAA required documentation for airborne computing systems. • The candidate must have a working knowledge of the systems engineering life cycle including requirements definition, validation, integration, certification, safety analysis, and verification

Desired Characteristics

• Experienced in ARINC 653 partitioned computing architectures• Experience with ARINC 664 network design and operation• Experienced in RTCA DO-254, DO-297 and DO-178B Level A civil hardware and software development programs.• High degree of Avionics product development experience• Familiar with certification of avionics hardware• Ability to rapidly prototype IMA Platform architectures• Self-motivated, driven, focused and results oriented• Strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrated customer relationship skills• Ability to provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge / skill areas needed to accomplish a task or solve a problem• Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work• Experience working on a global development team.This position is for an Expat assignment in Shanghai, China. It is a modern vibrant city with a large Expat community. You will have access to international foods, beautiful sites, theater, culture, and an extensive public transportation system.
