Role Summary/Purpose

The Chief Consulting Engineer for Avionics Systems will demonstrate superior technical competency, passion for avionics systems, and the ability to mentor and influence others. All Chief Consulting Engineers provide technical guidance and support CEO Design Reviews, participate in Design Boards, contribute to Design Practices, participate / lead field and test failure investigations, maintain awareness of industry state-of-the-art, and lead technology improvements.

Essential Responsibilities

This is a GME (Global Mobility Employee) position in support of GE/AVIC Joint Venture C919 program in China.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Provides technical mentoring for engineers or group of Engineers and develops/delivers Systems related technical training• Develops, reviews and approves Design Practices and leads Design Boards• Participates in or chairs CEO reviews and assigns/closes technical actions• Participates in Customer reviews as required• Leads major program root cause investigations and problem solving within Aviation Systems• Champions improvements in state-of-the-art engineering methods/ tools, and benchmarks industry• Serve as the Avionics Systems domain expert for JV• Participates in identifying, planning, and developing strategies to enhance JV competitiveness• Collaborates with PECOE and business leaders to ensure technical product excellence• Builds technology relationships with industry committees, universities, government agencies and other companies• Guides JV participation in research activities that contribute to the advancement of Engineering & Technology• The candidate must be willing relocate to Shanghai, China for a minimum of 2 years, and be willing to travel domestically or internationally 10% of the time.

Desired Characteristics

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or similar level of knowledge and experience• At least 20 years of experience in the Systems Engineering field• Demonstrated experience and technical leadership in Avionics Systems• Demonstrated knowledge and competence in aircraft operations, human machine interface, aircraft display technology, and electronic interfaces (analog and digital) as applied to an aircraft environment• Demonstrated experience and competence with ARP-4754A, ARP-4761, and DO-297 compliance in an IMA platform application
