Position Title: Studio Engineer - Volvo Construction Equipment Product Design

Job summary:

We are looking for a Studio Engineer for our Volvo Construction Equipment Product Design Department, which is part of the Volvo Group Global Product Design organisation.

This position is based in the Volvo Group Design Center in Shanghai. From this studio, we work closely with five other studios around the world, supporting all brands and business areas of Volvo Group. Main development scope includes Construction Machinery (such as Wheel Loaders and Excavators), Trucks, Buses, etc.

Job Description:

The Studio Engineer will hold key responsibilities within our design studio in Shanghai. He/She supports the designers with his/her experience in engineering, production methods and product development processes.

He/she is the main interface for exchanging technical requirements between the Product Design Team and engineering, providing solutions and input to the concept development and execution phases.

The Studio Engineer shall actively evaluate that the necessary technical requirements are received and integrated in the solutions, followed by CAD quality check before releasing models.

The Studio Engineer manages the hardware and software needed to maintain the cooperating network between the studio and engineering sites, including PDM systems and local sharing server.

This role reports to the Chief Designer Volvo CE China.

Required Competencies:

1. Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical), and a combination of education, training and experience that provides the required professional knowledge skills and abilities.

2. Good communication skills. Fluent in English, spoken and written. Mandarin knowledge is a plus.

3. Fully proficient in CATIA and PDM tools (such as SmarTeam, Enovia, etc). Basic level of Office tools. Knowledge in other CAD software (such as Alias) and 3D rendering capability is plus.

4. Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in design studios.
