Position Title: Senior Designer - Volvo Construction Equipment Product Design
Job summary:
We are looking for a Senior Designer for our Volvo Construction Equipment Product Design Department, which is part of the Volvo Group Global Product Design organization.
This position is based in the Volvo Group Design Center in Shanghai. From this studio, we work closely with five other studios around the world, supporting all brands and business areas of Volvo Group. Main development scope includes Construction Machinery (such as Wheel Loaders and Excavators), Trucks, Buses, etc.
Full Job Description:
The Senior Designer is a key role in our design studio in Shanghai. He/she needs to take the lead in a number of design projects and strategic tasks. The daily work includes creating and visualizing design concepts (via sketching, modeling, etc.), as well as supporting other designers in the team.
The senior designer needs to have the best insight in the project status; be responsible for documenting the process; secure that the necessary material is produced for decisions, reviews, customer evaluations and CAD deliveries. He/she also needs to support the Chief Designer with his/her experience, process knowledge and method expertise, aesthetic competence, product and customer knowledge.
The Senior Designer is the main interface between the designers of the project and engineering.
The Senior Designer reports to the Chief Designer Volvo CE China.
Required Competencies:
1. Master's or Bachelor's Degree (MFA/BFA) in Design (Product, Transportation, Graphic, or Interaction), and a combination of education, training and experience that provides the required professional knowledge skills and abilities to design products.
2. Good communication skills. Fluent in English, spoken and written. Mandarin knowledge is a plus.
3. Fully proficient in 3D CAD modelling software like Alias or Rhino for design sketch modelling purposes, and basic level of Office tools.
4. Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
