Job Profile and Description

The Studio Engineer is responsible for leading vehicle theme feasibility for interior/exterior. This position will include data creation, clay modeling support, section development, chairing meetings to drive feasibility, design work coordination, and communicating design requirements to design, modeling, and CAS/Surfacing modeling staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide Designers with balanced engineering input
• Create engineering requirements to support Designers
• Support Modeling activities (create sections, coordinate sets, hard points, etc).
• Interface with Design Center, Engineering, and the Surfacing groups to ensure requirements and aesthetic compliance.
• Support/lead technical reviews
• Create, communicate, and properly store standards
• Check surface development according with standards and develop alternative solutions if required to support the Design Theme
• Release compliant surface in agreement with Design and Engineering agreements, according with program schedule.
• Participate in Engineering/Program Meetings and organize meetings as required to resolve daily working issues.
• Maintain issues list pertaining to surface development, Engineering, and Design issues
• Support mock-ups and rapid prototype parts.
• Manage data flow
• Perform surfacing check lists prior to surface release
• Support and communicate Design requirements to production surfacers or integrated suppliers for surfacing activities.
• Create templates for surface verification at modeling studio.
• Responsible for status of assigned tasks at specific program gates
• Develop and maintain CAD skills
• Plan and prioritize own workload.

Skills and Specifications

• Understanding of engineering theory and principles of automotive design
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others
• High level of interest in product design, particularly automotive
• General interest and ability to integrate complex systems
• High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
• Familiarity with general automotive manufacturing processes
• Demonstrated skills on CAD - Preferably Catia or UG systems
• Basic understanding of Engineering Specifications

· Skilled in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Technical Degree
• Preferably with 5+ years Studio Experience
