Overview
Responsible for the development and execution of a field marketing strategy to increase customer perception of the value of the customer's investment in Elsevier products/services.
Develop a territory strategy that is aligned with the region-wide marketing strategy.
Manage marketing efforts (in conjunction with the account managers) to the customer and the customer end-users in the region.
Main responsibilities: (1)Develop and deliver regional/territory marketing programs, events and public relations. (2)Develop and execute regional/territory email and promotion campaigns. (3)Develop and manage training programs (train-the-trainer) and customer value-improvement programs. (4)Track, analyze and report on usage and customer feedback. (5) Reports directly to China Regional Sales Manager, with an indirect reporting line to APAC Regional Marketing Director.
Key Result Area
Customer relations
Develop and execute China marketing programs, events, and public relations programs to support the sales territory objectives aligned with the regional marketing plan and framework set by the RMM
Execute product launches to customers within the high standards and parameters of the segment and region go-to-market plan
Develop and execute regional/territory email and promotion campaigns.
Conduct and/manage a customer training program, including onsite training for large accounts and train-the-trainer
Hire, train, and manage freelance trainers within the regional framework. Conduct/manage web-based training for smaller accounts and/or direct accounts to Training desk for efficient on-going training resources
Consult with and support customers in their account-based marketing programs for end-users
Develop relationships with customers and outside contacts to support account team in sale and up-sell of new and existing products, as well as any other related account plan development and execution.
Align with account plan. Identify customer-specific marketing needs to drive the quality and quantity of usage
Manage efforts of contract trainers and/or student ambassadors (where applicable)
Usage & product performance monitoring
Establish China marketing goals (in conjunction with account team)
Establish and implement best practices for usage development
Systematically monitor usage at customer and regional levels against targets, and develop mitigating action plan where usage is not meeting objectives
Provide monthly usage reporting to key customers (including trend analyses)
Train customers on the admin tool for self-serve reporting
Track and report usage trends
Marketing Communication
Create and organize events/conferences to enhance visibility of Elsevier in the account and more broadly increase Elsevier's thought leadership profile utilizing central guidance, best practices, and toolkits
Give presentations during these shows about products/market developments, in order to improve the customer's perception towards the products.
Create and deploy marketing campaigns to enhance visibility of Elsevier in China
Track, analyze and report on customer feedback to account and product development teams
Organize Customer Satisfaction surveys.
Organize relevant communications to customers regarding (new) products.
Sales coordination
Collaborate with Account Management to further develop current accounts (leads for up-selling)
Support account team to demonstrate product value and ROI in support of major customer contract negotiations
Required qualifications
5+ years in a customer-facing role (preferably B2B).
Experience in marketing, events, training and customer development, sales and/or marketing preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential
Strong analytical ability and negotiation skills
Bachelor level education (in marketing or science preferred.) Masters level education a plus
Multi-cultural awareness
Ability to travel at least 50%
