This attorney will provide front-line legal support for various business units of the Sales Marketing Service Group in China. China is one of the fastest and most exciting markets for the company. This attorney will work as part of a team and reports to the China Lead Attorney of Business, Consumer and Public Sector Group of LCA and will have frequent contact with all levels of Microsoft managers and employees.
Microsoft China is Microsoft Corporation wholly owned subsidiary in China. It has been 18 years since Microsoft had its presence in China in 1992. And now there are more than 3000 regular employees working in 21 offices in China.
This position will be based in [Shanghai/Guangzhou], China.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Providing timely, practical, business-oriented legal advice, and developing creative solutions to complex business and intellectual property issues in licensing, marketing and distribution of Microsoft products and services. Train, support and assist teams in deal negotiations for Cloud, EPG, Public Sector and SMSP.
2. Preparing, revising, reviewing, and negotiating various legal agreements in coordination with business contacts in China and colleagues in the USA and around the world.
3. Collaborating with legal and business teams to advise, draft and negotiate licensing and marketing programs.
4. Coordinating between business contacts and legal specialists within LCA on issues such as antitrust, regulatory compliance, copyright, trade secrets, trademarks, privacy and advertising.
5. Advising business contacts on compliance with Microsoft legal policies and procedures and providing local support to legal training to business group members on a variety of legal issues.
6. Managing and coordinating with outside counsel to meet the transactional needs of the business.
We are looking for an attorney with:
1. J.D. or equivalent degree and excellent academic credentials.
2. At least eight years’ relevant in-house transactional experience or as a practicing attorney with a top law firm advising multinational clients in this field.
3. Experience with intellectual property, competition law issues and negotiating complex IP and technology commercial and public sector transactions required.
[For the opening in GZ - Preference will be given to candidates who are also qualified attorneys in Hong Kong SAR and may support the SMSG in Hong Kong SAR as well.]

Legal analysis and judgment that reflects smart risk-taking and proven ability to anticipate legal risks that could arise due to the direction of the client's business, technology, public policy, or the law.

3. Executive level briefing and training experience, and the ability to focus on customers and business simplicity, is necessary.
4. Detail- and results-oriented, with outstanding organizational and analytical skills.
5. Superior problem solving and negotiation skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
6. A strong ability to work independently and efficiently, and to prioritize workflow, meet challenging deadlines, and manage complex projects in a demanding fast-paced environment.
7. The ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people with different professional backgrounds, and with the ability to lead and motivate others and to facilitate problem solving.
