SUMMARY OF JOB CONTENTS

Directs and supervises all engineering and maintenance activities in the area of responsibility, including infra-structure and equipment in the site.


Responsibility:

1. Joint development of investment plans with production and ensures realization through appropriate planning and supervision.

2. Direct responsibility for key investment projects.

3. Ensures that capital projects are implemented on time, in scope and within budget.

4. Provides professional advice and support to internal departments concerning technical and engineering issues. Recommends changes to optimize the process and provides related cost data.

5. Is accountable for the maintenance, repair, and all other maintenance activities for all equipment and facilities in the assigned site.

6. Ensures the effectiveness of maintenance and engineering activities in accordance with production and quality standards as well as in compliance with internal policies and legal requirements (environment, health and safety)

7. Interacts with production management to plan maintenance and engineering activities, so as to minimize downtime and to resolve technical problems.

8. Controls maintenance, engineering and capital project cost.

9. Responsible for staff recruitment, training and development within the area of responsibility

10. Member of site committee Shanghai.

11. Due to the role as an internal service provider (interface) responsible for coordinating and executing assignments regarding timeline and priorities. In charge of the decision whether to internally manage the assignment or to use subcontractors externally regarding the special focus on costs.

12. Advisory influence on all investments concerning technical, engineering as well as health and environment issues.


Maintenance:

--- In charge of complete utilities (electricity, oil, gas, steam, water...).
--- The spare part department Bonn belongs to Maintenance (and not to Purchasing).
--- Complexity of maintenance in Shanhai is high due to the different technologies Machining and High Temperature Processes


Engineering:

--- Technical engineering Shanghai and know-how pool for BU GS sites in China
--- Technical engineering executes the long term development plan for the Shanghai site as well as the plant's safety concept.


Facility Management:

--- Responsibility for the entire facility management (buildings, streets, places) also including house services (postal office, cleaning service, canteen, site security).


Requirements:

1. Technical degree

2. More than 10 years of related experience

3. Experience and knowledge in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and process engineering

4. Technical expert in his area of responsibility

5. Management knowledge and experience e.g. financial aspects

6. Project Management

7 Acting as a leader with leadership competencies

8. Strong communication and negotiation skills
