Boston-Power, Inc. is currently seeking a talented and skilled Mechanical Engineer to support our growing company. Based in our corporate headquarters in Westborough, MA this is a hands-on role that will challenge you both technically and creatively. You will work across several business disciplines alongside some of the brightest, talented and motivated people in the industry, and will transition seamlessly between individual and team-based assignments. We are seeking candidates who can think both analytically and creatively, with a bias for action and results. Successful candidates demonstrate: (i) Ability to resolve issues with minimum direction taking responsibility for quality and timeliness of work, (ii) Ability to communicate, both in written form and verbally, analysis and conclusions in a clear concise format, and (iii) Exhibits constructive, team oriented cooperative attitudes and behaviors that demonstrate respect for partner organizations and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the design and develop complex electro-thermo-mechanical assemblies for Electric Vehicles and other high power battery applications;
2. Develop and implement battery pack mechanical / thermal / interface designs;
3. Use DFM/DFA methods and optimize designs for cycle time and cost;
4. Compliance testing and qualification of designs to relevant safety and environmental standards;
5. Specify tooling, fixtures and assembly equipment for use in mass production process;
6. Support new technology products into mass production with contract manufacturer;
7. Support the research and product development of lithium-ion batteries and packs;
8. Assist with developing, improving and implementing test methods for battery component
qualification;
1. Participate in product problem-solving teams;
2. Provide timely project status reports to Engineering and Production teams. Qualifications:
3. B.S. or M.S. Mechanical Engineering, 5 plus years experience;
4. Packaging, power distribution, heat transfer/thermal management, structural design experience required;
5. Familiarity with automotive engineering standards a plus;
6. Strong experience and skills in mechanical, fluid, thermal analyses, modeling and simulating with CFD and FEA tools;
7. Experience with prototype fabrication, metal joining/welding methods, plastic injection molding and testing required;
8. Skilled user of 3D CAD required, SolidWorks preferred;
9. Contract manufacturing experience, preferably with Asia;
10. Ability to work well in fast-paced team-oriented culture; ability to effectively manage multiple, competing priorities and to take initiative in achieving goals;
11. Excellent written and oral communications skills;
