Position | |
Position Summary | Amazon.com is seeking a Manager of Corporate Development to evaluate opportunities in China. This position will be based in Beijing and will be working in close partnership with the US-based corporate development team on sourcing, evaluating and executing Amazon's mergers and acquisitions, minority investments, and strategic partnership activities in China. This role will involve extensive exposure to Amazon’s senior leadership in China and globally across Amazon’s various businesses and initiatives. He or she will act as the primary contact in Beijing supporting a US-based corporate development director as well as business units and senior leadership by conducting industry research, valuation analyses, due diligence, creation of strategic presentations/recommendations, acquisition term sheet and contract negotiations, and both internal and external relationship building. Select past acquisitions and minority investments include: Joyo.com, Zappos, Quidsi, Kiva Systems, Audible.com, Shopbop.com, Woot.com, Abebooks, Lovefilm, EngineYard, BillMeLater, and LivingSocial. |
Objectives | |
Key Strategic Objectives | · Work closely with US-based corporate development team colleagues and business units to set priorities and evaluate expansion opportunities · Identify and evaluate new opportunities through desktop research and interaction with local entrepreneurs and venture capitalists and other market participants · Conduct market research and pre-transaction diligence efforts · Evaluate financial models, create valuation analyses and identify synergy opportunities and risks in potential transactions · Work with internal and external legal counsels to negotiate all relevant legal documentation · Assist with preparation of any internal materials used during the transaction process and coordinate with internal cross-functional teams focused on subsequent integration efforts |

Educational Requirements | BS/BE are mandatory. MBA preferred |
Experience | · Mandarin proficiency (speaking, writing and reading) · A minimum of 5+ years of technology experience (corporate development, investment banking, private equity or venture capital) · A minimum of 3+ years of experience directly related to creating and managing M&A processes for a wide variety of transactions · Solid understanding of the Internet, media, commerce, and technology marketplace in China |
