TCS Support Engineer for Test (TCS)

Microsoft Xbox Manufacturing Test Engineering is expanding in China. We are looking for a key technical contributor on the fast paced, high energy team responsible for developing and maintaining the test database system for the Xbox 360 game console. The successful candidate will be capable of understanding and working with an existing SQL Server database with hundreds of tables that is expected to grow to over 2 Terabytes. You will be responsible for the ongoing support and development of a custom developed, integrated software testing system with a worldwide installed base of 100 servers and thousands of clients.

The candidate must be able to work closely with SW and HW engineers in the USA. This position will work closely with key manufacturing partners with manufacturing issues and testing of high volume products. This position will involve solving technical problems under pressure and quickly learning new hardware.

Required skills
? Database Development and Administration: SQL Server 2008/2012
o Transact-SQL: queries, sprocs, triggers, views, jobs
o Administration: filegroups, partitions, backups, tuning (we’re 2.5 terabytes and just getting started), 2005 to 2012 migration
o Replication: distrubtion agents, log readers, retention intervals, transactions, publishers, subscribers
o DTS: how do you distribute 300 million rows of data to 4 continents every day?
? Visual Studio 2003/2005 software development: C, C++, C#, aspx, xml, scripting
? Network Administration: DHCP, active directory, switches, routers, fiber cables, ports, viruses, servers, sans, firewalls
? Microsoft Enterprise Software: SMS, MOM, ISA, Windows Server 2012
? Problem solving skills and decision making: Sound decision making is your most valuable asset. It will be required several times a day. Candidate must have superior problem solving skills. Self motivation and ability to solve ambiguous problems is required.
? Requires strong verbal and written technical communication skills in English and Mandarin. Must have good interpersonal skills. Cantonese skills a plus.
Desired skills and experience: Database theory, high volume factory testing, Network and server infrastructure, and PC hardware

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or equivalent field of studies.

Job location at Microsoft Asia Center for H/W (MACH) in Guangdong, Shenzhen; and will require frequent travel to manufacturing facilities located in Guangdong Province.
Ability to travel frequently overseas and for extended period of time and on short notices.
