Relationship Manager

Job function Commercial/Client Relationship Management

Location Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Wuhan


Main Responsibilities:

- To deepen the relationship with a portfolio of existing LC/MNC clients with an aim to increasing commercial banking penetration with strong focus on trade finance, cash management products and working capital loans

- Regularly communicate with Global relationship managers to update on local developments/opportunities and keep abreast of any change in global account strategy

- To originate new commercial banking relationships with multinational companies in China with strong focus on COMPANY global clients.

- To guide the CA closely to ensure credit proposals are structured and priced properly to protect the bank’s interest with acceptable return and in line with the global account strategy set out by the Global Relationship Managers

- To work and supervise CAs to complete credit proposals and reviews within reasonable turnaround time. Proper follow up with Risk is also needed in respect of addressing all further enquiries and additional input as needed.

- To plan visits to facility clients at acceptable frequencies to update business development of the clients as required by the management and the Risk as well as to identify and react to early warning signals on deterioration of counterparty risk and operational risks.

- Respond promptly to any enquiries/referral from overseas BHFM or CIB locations on banking service in China.

- To identify cross-selling opportunities on all prospects and existing clients on CIB products and assist the respective CIB product sales to win the mandate from relationship perspective.

- Other ad hoc tasks / relevant responsibilities as assigned by the management


Candidate Profile:

Academic Background

Bachelor degree (finance or business discipline and Master Degree can be a plus)


Working Experience

-At least 5 years of banking experience with no less than 3 years experience as a relationship manager for Multinationals, preferably with a major international bank

-Solid accounting, financial and credit analysis skills

-Sound knowledge on different bank products, particularly commercial banking/transaction banking products


Skills & Competencies

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build up rapport quickly with clients

Good presentation and negotiation skills

Team playing

Language Skills

English/Mandarin – Fluent

Computer Skill

Well versed in MS Office applications(Word, Excel, PowerPoint is a must)

Professional Qualification

CFA or ACCA qualification is a plus

Job Purpose

To grow the commercial banking business by both actively acquiring new multinational relationships and deepening relationship with existing LC clients base. Job Title/ Functional Title Assistant Manager /Manager- Trade Finance

Job Location (City Level ) Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Wuhan


Job Summary / Job Purpose

To maintain and grow the size and trade business contribution from the assigned trade customer portfolio through (i) the delivery of professional out-bound trade related services; (ii) intensive customer visits/calling activities for trade services/product crossing; and (iii) development of new trade customers by following up on internally generated and/or inbound leads and proactively working with relationship manager of both commercial banking and CIB.


Main Responsibilities

Provision of Services and Developing Trade Business to Customers within Assigned Portfolio

? Visits customers regularly for provision of outbound trade related services including trade account opening, trade documentation advisory services, and etc

? Coordinates Trade Operations regarding trade documentation and related issues to ensure a seamless and professional banking experience for trade customers within the assigned portfolio

? visits customers regularly to lobby for more trade business, supported by concise call reports

? proactively cross-sell trade products and services according to branch product marketing plans and customer needs, supported by concise call reports


New Trade Customer Acquisition

? acquires new trade customers in accordance with pre-determined targets set by management

? follows up assigned inbound trade business referrals from Trade Operations and group offices into real trade business in a timely manner

? follows up assigned potential trade customers leads obtained from customer groups and various marketing activities in a timely manner

? works seamlessly with Corporate Relationship Manager in both commercial banking and CIB to identify and convert non-trade customers into trade customers, including referrals of trade facility requests

? proactively identifies and refers potential non-trade business opportunities to the relevant relationship officers in a timely manner

? compiles call reports and activity management statistics as required by management in a timely manner

Support country wide and in-branch Trade Marketing Activities

? assists in organizing regular customer events/Seminars/Workshops as required

Protect the Bank’s Interest

? follows up on irregular bills and disputes with customers to ensure satisfactory and timely settlement

proactively alert of any negative development in customer businesses to the Bank and the relevant relationship managers


Academic Background, University graduate, preferably with a major in finance / foreign trade

Working Experience, A minimum of 3 years banking experience in the trade finance related area

Knowledge of Trade services operation, trade product and services, basic knowledge in credit and account services

Candidate Profile

Academic Background

(degree and major) Bachelor graduate in the discipline of international trade, business administration or economics,

Working Experience /

Technical Skills & Know how -with at least 3 years’ banking experience

-Solid product and sales knowledge with at least 5 years experience in relevant roles.

Skills & Competencies -Strong leadership and project management skills

-Self-starter and good team player

-Strong communication skills and fluent oral and written English

-Strong interpersonal skills

Language Skills Fluency in Mandarin and English(both written and spoken)
