Position: Quality Control Inspector

Description

XL Systems, a division of National Oilwell Varco, is a world leader in the production of large diameter casing and conductor in the oil and gas business. XL Systems needs a quality control inspector to work with one of one of its main forging and connector suppliers to provide oversight of daily production activities and to assist in continually improving all processes.

Qualifications & Experience

The candidate must have technical training and five years work experience as a quality control inspector and quality assurance auditor in a manufacturing environment. It is essential to be able to accurately read and interpret manufacturing drawings and specifications. It is also necessary to be proficient in the use of measuring equipment and able to interpret the results from measurements to validate against established acceptance criteria, document and communicate these findings effectively. Special consideration will be given to individuals who have technical training and work experience in non-destructive examination methods, particularly ultrasonics and magnetic particle.

The ability to able to speak, read, write and understand English including technical terminology is essential. The person will report to the quality manager in the USA so must be a self starter and able to work with little direct supervision.

Responsibilities include:

· Ensuring only acceptable products, free from all defects, are sent to XL Systems manufacturing plants worldwide.

· Performing continual cycle audits of various processes, procedures and products of our supplier to determine compliance with XL Systems purchase orders, drawings and engineering specifications, customer specifications and the supplier's established quality system and process requirements. Periodic audits shall ensure compliance with these requirements.

· Performing in-process and final dimensional inspection and thread gauging to ensure supplier has met XL Systems purchase order requirements. This includes the use of specialty gages including MRP gauges and or other calibrated measuring instruments.

· The authority to generate non-compliance reports, corrective action and/or preventative actions when discrepant product is found and/or nonconforming conditions are discovered.

· Assuring sub-supplier activities meet requirements, including receiving inspection, documentation review, source inspection and vendor audits.

· Monitoring of in-house NDE activities including the validation of NDE techniques and validation that supplier personnel are maintaining NDE personnel qualification records and certifications.

· Coordinating with Third Party Inspectors, outside agencies and customer contacts on behalf of XL Systems and acting as company liaison when necessary.
