Our Consumer Group has set out to deliver world-class multimedia entertainment experiences to people. We are dedicated to lead the design of entertainment experiences for our customers. The entertainment experiences are created by people for people with emphasis on making the user-friendliest experience and are enjoyed in many contexts – PC, mobile devices on the go and TV in people’s living room.
GENERAL SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Become part of a team that manages a cloud-based Consumer product ?leveraged by RealNetworks’ various properties. We are looking for an exceptional person, Director of Consumer Product, with passion for building ?consumer platforms and services to serve the China market, strong analytical abilities, attention to ?detail and follow-through, and proven ability to work effectively with all ?levels within the organization. ? ?
Being the Director of Consumer Product is obsessed with B2C business strategy, technology and product. The candidate is also good at building B2B partnerships, directing marketing activities and just getting things to work. This role plays multiple hats that include building a first-class team, defining roadmaps of the product offerings, negotiating partnerships that enhance our product offerings, generating new revenue streams, driving distribution of the RealPlayer brand online and offline, generating new users and sustaining active user rate for the company, or otherwise adding value to the RealPlayer user experience. This position will report to the General Manager of China.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic, creative thinker who is strong in execution and has acquired the skills to work cross-functionally in order to make the RealPlayer businesses a success. Better yet, the candidate is entrepreneurial who is not shy away from many unknowns or limited data to support decision-making in all aspects of the business.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with RealNetworks China and RealNetworks International top management, and managing a team of product managers, product designers, marketers, business development managers, sales and engineers etc. as the team grows from its initial stage. The candidate will take primary responsibilities of the following three areas:
1. Build
? Build a team from ground up and encourage collaborations to come up with solutions, solve issues and drive results.
? Build the RealPlayer brand among our target user groups and turn that into one of the top video entertainment experience in China.
2. Drive
? Strengthen existing consumer business and write business plan for new business.
? Radar-eye on the trend in the industry and identify opportunities that can drive both short and long-term growth in market share, mindshare and revenue in a foreseeable timeframe.
? Thought leadership in product and market trend. Continuously present recommendations to upper management.
? Be the voice of the customer. Ensure that customer needs are clearly understood and incorporated and protected in all Optimum product offerings.
? Be the voice of China. Get buy-in from the upper management in headquarter in order to move the business forward.
3. Execute
? Work with Consumer Engineering team to identify local features that go into the RealPlayer product lines (Web, mobile devices and possibly TV).
? Work with senior system engineer to identify IaaS / PaaS providers as our partner(s) for implementing our cloud-based offerings. Carry out risk assessment and comparative analysis to support our decision on the choice of partnerships.
? Work with product manager, UI/UX designer and business development personnel to create a unified, localized and coherent user experience across multiple platforms (PC, mobile, TV).
? Work closely with the operation engineering team to keep the service running smoothly and down time to minimal.
? Continue cultivating partnerships with content providers, Internet companies and companies in our target vertical markets that make it a superb choice for video entertainment experience.
? Identify advertising partnership opportunities that generate revenue stream.
? Identify and expand channel partnership opportunities to expand our product distribution channels.
? Utilize our existing business model and continue to cultivate potential new business models to maximize our revenue and mindshare in the market.
? Launch with quick iterations: feedback-refine-launch.
EDUCATION
1. BA/BS degree in computer science, marketing, or business.
2. MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
3. Proficient in both Chinese and English (native or close to a native level).
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
1. Experience
? A well regarded as THE leader person from your previous company.
? Prior experience creating successful, high scale entertainment services.
? 10+ years prior experience in Product Management or Marketing for a consumer products/services brand or equivalent experience in Management Consulting. Must have managed one or more successful new Internet product introductions.
? Ideally, 5+ years prior experience in operations and team management for a team of marketers, product managers and engineers.
? Experience shipping innovative mobile, web, or software products within milestone deadlines.
? Product launch, process development, and operations experience.
