Job Description:
Bing’s goal: To empower people with knowledge, and re-organize the web for task completion. The Bing Whole Page Relevance team optimizes the user’s information retrieval task by focusing on what, where, and when to show information related to user queries. It is a most innovative, highly visible, and strongly user driven area in the search industry. We are working on a diverse set of user facing features, such as rich content in search results, captions, deep links, entities, ranking, and whole page organization. We extensively leverage large scale data processing, machine learning, data mining, statistical analysis, online flight experiment, and many other techniques to create the best user experience. Our features will directly impact millions of end users in terms of how quickly they will find information and make informed decisions.
We are building up our Whole Page Relevance team in Search Technology Center Asia in both Beijing and Suzhou. You will be part of the talented team in Microsoft China and gain deep experience in engineering practice dealing with real user query and user data in massive scale and real-time fashion. You will work together with researchers and developers across teams, and will be responsible for building engineering platform and machine learning systems for our business critical features. We are looking for passionate and talented developers who have intense technology curiosity and strong determination to drive world class innovation that can enable us to succeed in a competitive industry. The developer should have an excellent track record and hands-on experience in building high quality engineering systems, and desire to work in the collaboration environment with multiple partners.
Qualifications:
We expect candidates to have a range of skills, typically including:
- 5+ years of software development experience with C++, C#, Java, or equivalence
- Strong experience in system design, coding, algorithm, runtime testing, and release and deployment
- Experience in building high performing engineering team
- Excellent leadership skills in driving team execution and innovation
- Experience in driving development process and engineering best practices
- Experience on machine learning, information retrieval, data mining, statistical analysis, or large scale computing is a big plus
- A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Math or EE; PhD a plus

Today, STCA is the largest R&D team of the Microsoft Online Services Division outside the United States with investment plans to scale well over 460 in FY12.
