Position Checkout
a Fortune 500 company based in Seattle, Washington, is the global leader in e-commerce. Our Beijing-based global development team for the Retail Customer Experience (RCX) is focused on improving the core shopping experience on the our websites in all countries. In this team, you will have the opportunity to develop features that will run on the global our infrastructure. Our opportunities include website engineering, performance and latency improvements, machine-based data analysis, and engineering innovative backend applications. We specifically own checkout experience for all our site worldwide on all platforms -PC, Mobile and Tablet.
The systems you work on will be required to serve traffic at global Internet scale across multiple data centers. High availability and scalability is a must. The systems you build will need to serve at high throughput with low latency. We expect you to leverage our's AWS infrastructure (S3, EC2, and other cloud technologies) to improve the customer experience for all of our global customers. You will communicate with colleagues in the US, India, Europe, and Japan.
We are looking for outstanding Software Development Engineer who combines superb technical, communication and analytical skills. As an SDE in RCX team, your work will impact hundreds-of-millions of us customers worldwide- not just China.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
- A deep understanding to object-oriented design and programming including familiarity with Design Patterns
- Proficient in building software applications in Java and/or Perl, preferably in a Unix/Linux environment
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, unit testing and functional testing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in Mandarin and English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Thorough understanding of Service Oriented Architectures
- Master at least one script language, such as shell, Perl or Python
