Business Intelligence Engineer

Job Description:
We are awash in data with vast untapped business value, and the complementary scarce factor is you, a smart person that can extract that value. You've got practical experience working with large datasets; you've studied machine learning, statistics, econometrics, operations research, or one of several similar fields. But more than that, you've got strong coding skills too. At our company, you'll own a problem end-to-end, so those coding skills will come in handy not just to extract and clean the data, but also to understand the systems that generated it, and to automate your analyses.
We recognize that a vanishingly small set of people are both expert statisticians and expert software engineers. You're probably an engineer who's taken an interest in statistical machine learning or a statistician who's learned to be an effective programmer. You're a double threat possessing a combination of skills that together are far more powerful than either is alone.
But even more than that, this role is all about guiding the business, so in addition to facility with data and programming skills, you'll also need to write clear, professional documents accessible to both technical staff as well as business leaders. You'll need to visualize large multivariate datasets in clever ways that lay bare the otherwise hidden relationships.
But most important of all, you need to be curious. If you're the kind of person that runs queries just because the answers /might/ be interesting; if you can't sleep with unanswered questions rattling around in your head; if you're a relentless problem solver; then you're the right person for this job. A curious person with the technical chops and the ability to craft rigorous answers to important business questions can change the world.

Responsibilities:
? Work with various staff members of all levels both Tech and Business teams to better understand core business processes and operational needs.
? Work closely with the team to build more reports and metrics using a data warehouse.
? Build and maintain routine and ad-hoc operation reports.
? Research and guidance for improving the data accuracy and automation rate.
? Design and implement reporting data sources and complex reports.
? Design and implement appropriate data modeling and statistical techniques to develop real world business solutions.
? Continuously perform research, analysis and forecasting to find new ways to improve operation processes and cut cost.

Basic Qualifications:
? BA/BS in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.
? 5 years of relevant work experience
? Demonstrated strong working knowledge of SQL and Microsoft Excel (prior data mining experience a plus)
? Proficient understanding of ETL tools and processes.
? Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail
? Customer focus and professional demeanor
? Experience driving small to medium sized projects. Organizational and multitasking skills with ability to balance competing priorities.
? An ability and interest in working in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment
? A work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations
? Interpersonal skills — including written and oral communication skills
? Design and implement reporting data sources and complex reports.
? Fluency in English, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications:
? Experience in a technology company or high-tech environment a plus
? A desire to grow professionally
